Suggestions?

Wussup everybody, this is my first post on here... read alot of others and figured that the people were very helpful, so here goes...

Basically, I cant make up my mind as to what type of college I want. So far, Ive been accepted into PSU Main, Temple, Hofstra, waiting on Northeastern, and I may last second apply to Drexel. Ive been accepted to or applied to the business schools at each one.

I have major legacy at PSU, stayed over with a friend the other day and have pretty much followed them my whole life. The day/night I spent there was alot of fun (the parties are as crazy as ppl say, haha) and I got to see parts of the campus I never saw before. I liked the town there, and the large size of the school/students. The school spirit is unmatched anywhere else, and of course the sports is awesome.

HOWEVER......

I also visited Northeastern/Temple/Drexel, and I REALLY liked the urban style campus, and being able to go to the city all the time and the internship oppurtunities that come with it. But things such as school spirit/huge sports/alumni/etc that comes with a huge school like PSU isnt there as much.

If PSU was in a city like Philly or Boston, I would be there in a heartbeat, but the fact that it isnt by a big city like that is the biggest thing holding me back. Dont get me wrong, I like the party scene hah, but Im not the type to go do that everyday, I would rather be able to switch it up, go to the city, go to clubs, etc.

I figure the academics between the schools are not THAT much different, so the biggest thing for me now is where I will want to spend the next 4 years of my life, and enjoy it the most.

If anybody has any experiences at any of these schools, suggests other schools, or has any advice in general,it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post, props to those who actually finished reading it.

Why not try Pitt? It has a strong and spirited sports atmosphere like PSU, and draws from the same pool of students, but is located in the heart of Pittsburgh, which is actually a pretty cool city.

Wait, just kidding. If you're a senior it might be too late.

Ummm..of the schools you applied to, Temple might be a good compromise. They have the urban thing going for them, but they also have D1 sports teams, I believe.

I also think Temple's in a better part of the city than Drexel is.

What sort of field do you want to major in? If you're not doing engineering or science I don't think Drexel is that great of a fit.

Im going to major in business...I applied to Pitt, and Im still waiting to hear back from them... I just havent gotten around to visiting there. For some reason I never really heavily considered it. It was a school that was in state and I figured I had a good chance to get into, and if I were to get accepted them maybe check it out.

You really should. It's the perfect balance of city and sports, so I think you'd like it.

Pittsburgh is a great college town. If you go there, be sure to take advantage of your free bus pass to go downtown whenever you're bored. You can get Pirates tickets for as cheap as $8, and later in the game the ushers don't care as much about where you sit, so you can get down to a decent spot without a problem. I actually liked chilling out in left field right under the Jumbotron.

Temple is definitely not in a better area of Philly than Drexel.

University City is hardly a beacon of urban perfection, but it's got the distinct advantage of that 800-pound gorilla that has been subsidizing and pushing along its gentrification.

I'd say look at Pitt and Drexel.

Oh, my bad. I just remember back when I lived in the area that U. Penn was much nicer than Drexel (and my friends that went to Drexel talked about hearing gunfire now and then), so I assumed Temple was in a better area than Drexel.

I'm from a rural/suburb area, it all seems equally horrible to me. ;_;

(Everyone told me Pasadena would be nice because it's like a big suburb, but it feels as much like a giant crappy city as the rest of LA does to me. :()

Yea Drexel is really close to Penn actually. That part of Philly is real nice. Thanks everyone for responding.

Drexel literally sits on Penn's northern border. Drexel security guards have segways though ;)

Good suggestions.

Careful about Temple, personally I'd eliminate it, just because North Philly's bad, although I hear the actual campus itself is improving. If you're doing business Penn State is far better than Temple.

Drexel...it is adjacent to Penn in West Phila but the neighborhoods get worse as you go north, where Drexel is. Temple's worse.

Northeastern's good if you gotta have Boston.

I agree with some others...Pitt seems like the perfect fit. It's like Penn State, city version, and Pittsburgh is much better than what you probably imagine. You ought to go visit as soon as you get your acceptance (hopefully).

Plus, instate tuition is a pretty good deal. :)
