Suites vs Corridors

I've made my decision to dorm at CIW. Im going to be in the learning community so im limited to these two halls. I'm trying to decide between Mohawk (all suites) and Oneida (suites and corridor). I have a few questions for the students who have visited or lived in these halls to answer to help me decide. I would prefer not to pay the extra money for break housing since money is already gonna be strained with the tuition and dorming.

How many male bathrooms and showers are there on each hall?(Oneida)

What is the size difference between the double rooms in the Mohawk Suites and your average Oneida Double room?

Do you ask to be put into a suite in Oneida or are you just thrown in one?

What are the chances of getting put into a suite in Oneida?

How social are the halls (Mohawk)

What is the international population at Mohawk like?

Not really sure why you have choice at all. When I was in the learning community, we were all housed in Oneida.

In Oneida:

There is one communal bathroom per floor (sex decided by the sex living in the corridor rooms). There are five floors with residents, with two sides each. Five of these will be male corridor. Additionally, there is a men’s bathroom on the first floor.

The difference between the two is that the room sizes in Oneida are basically all the same (a corridor room is a corridor room) while the room sizes in Mohawk can vary depending on the location of the room within the suite and where the suite is in the building. Can be a little larger, or can be smaller than a double in Oneida.

You cannot be placed in a Oneida suite as a freshman unless there is a cancellation by a returning student and you get randomly placed. The suites are already taken by returning upperclassmen. Mohawk would be your only shot at a suite in CIW freshman year (guaranteed).

Haven’t lived in Mohawk, but Oneida is a great building. And Mohawk, like other break halls, has a significant international/OOS/athlete presence.

I highly recommend living in Oneida with the rest of learning community. Corridor living is perfectly fine and you can move to a suite later on.

I’m going to go with Oneida. I just have one more question, how many showers are in each communal bathroom?

There are two, one shower stall and one that is also a bathtub (with the plugs removed- so it is a shower only).

Two showers per bathroom is pretty underwhelming. It looks like there’s about 20 people on the floor competing for 2 showers. Is it hard to get a shower before class in the morning?

Not really… I’ve never had that big of a difficulty. About that same difficulty of getting a shower (1) in a suite of six girls.
