@Vigilante13 I think the financial aid form was the last page of the application, and I think they take fin aid into account when deciding admission so I would think you need it during the application. I actually just googled the problems after I finished the exam, most questions were readily available. PM me if you want any of the links though.

Wow, you guys’ stats make mine look really bad, but here are mine:

Current sophomore at Ohio public high school
4.23 GPA (3.98 UW)
currently taking Pre-calc and AP stats
AMC 10: 103 (I did much better when I practiced at home, but I was sick on the test date )
PSAT: 196 (haha didn’t study at all, so that’s why it’s so bad)
ECs: math club
didn’t look at recommendation, but they were probably okay
couldn’t figure out 5, 6, and the second part of 2 on admissions exam. Probably got 8 wrong also, cuz I didn’t really get the question, and I’m bad at proofs.

yeah, I’m probably not going to get in. I really wanted to go though. Math had always been my favorite subject and the topics looked really interesting, and I love stanford. I’m also a girl, does that help? idk, chance me guys?

^You’ve definitely got a chance. It’ll depend on your written responses and the admission exam. If it’s anything like PROMYS, though, quality trumps quantity, so it’s OK to miss a few questions.

Since the SUMaC response date is April 18, you’ll need to decide whether or not you want to apply to other math camps before you hear back from SUMaC. If you haven’t already, I suggest researching PROMYS, Ross, and Canada/USA MathCamp.

Hey guys! I am a sophomore and here’s my stats:
1, International student from China. Won several maths awards in China but I am sure they’ve never heard of those competitions…
2, don’t know about the recommendation letters…I let my bc calc teacher and my math team supervisor write me two
3, AMC 10: 132 AIME: didn’t take before march12
PSAT: extremely low…basically because it’s my first year in the U.S and
4, Our school has a weird scale of GPA and they don’t weight GPA. It’s good but not gorgeous because history and english classes are so hard for me that I can only get an A- for last semester.
5, EC: maths related: tutor for 2 kids. Maths center duty every Sunday. Mathlete in my school.
6, entrance exam: I literally wrote 20 pages of solution. I did all of them but I am not sure they are right or not…
7, written response: I basically wrote about I love maths because of its perfect logic and well-defined…more philosophical than mathematical=.=

Since the admission rate is so low I wonder do I have a chance to get in?

so nervous…

Unless you expanded on the problems, I have no idea how you wrote 20 pages of solutions. My solutions were five pages long, in total, and I proved a few additional conjectures on #2. Plus, my solution to #8 was far too long.

Anyway, from what I can tell, your admissions decision will mainly depend on:
•Exam answers
•Written responses
•Letters of recommendation
•Financial aid

I can’t comment on any of these.

SUMaC 2013er here! To answer some of the questions: 1. I didn’t apply for financial aid last year, but I think that the fact that you applied for financial aid is considered in the admission process. 2. Last year, there were 10 problems on the admission exam and it seems that people who got 10 correct were mostly admitted while people who got 9.5 correct were wait listed. 3. While your performance on admission exam is an important factor, no one can actually predict your chances as the application pool becomes stronger and stronger each year and the spots are limited. The result will be out soon, so try to stay calm and good luck guys!

Yikes! 9.5/10 correct puts you on the waitlist? That’s really discouraging…

well that puts me in an even lower chance to make it. When will we hear back whether or not we got in?

but didn’t that one guy, endingpunc, say that he got in without ever taking the AMC, and didn’t get a single problem completely right? Also I thing we get the results April 18. It said on the application page.

but he still naswered all of them. I didn’t :’( wah.

To the past students: did the people at SUMaC send acceptances/rejections on time last year? I didn’t hear from one other camp I applied to until three weeks past the given response date.

2014 applicant here - it seems SUMaC has released the results for some of the children before others. My friend got in yesterday.

^That’s rather discouraging.

@Ralphes, when and how did your friend receive his acceptance letter? Did he have to login into his application or did they send him an email? Also, has anyone else heard back? I have not gotten any emails.

@pwnmasterdx no, I havent heard back either. I thought all results would be released on Friday, I didn’t know any got out early…

The application website says, “Welcome ******** *. Your Applicant/Student Number is . You will need this number to log back into your account to check your account status and receive your admissions decision.”

But I’m not really sure where to go from https://precollegiate.stanford.edu/summer/applicantpage.html?program=sumac to check my application status. Any thoughts?

@DiscipulusBonus I don’t know. Our best chance is to wait on Friday.

@Ralphes Just curious, was your friend from the US or out of the US?

Both me and my friend are from India. He received an email after which he checked on his application page where it was confirmed.

EDIT : there are chances he is just pulling my leg, so if anyone else has heard back, I would rather like it confirmed.

@Ralphes thats really weird. My page still says Admission Decision: April 18th. Is that what his said, or did it give an alternate date?
