I'm a senior graduating this year. Though I have a current job and I plan on working this summer, I have pretty flexible hours. I still got a bit of time before June...but, I want to get ahead.

Suggestions on what to do this summer before college?

I was considering working and/or traveling. I'd appreciate tips/stories/suggestions.

If you need the money, then definitely work.

Otherwise, traveling would be a good vacation before college plus you will have stories to tell when you start college. You're a senior in high school right?

Yes, I am. I'd love to travel..but I really think I need to save up my money. I would prefer backpacking or something. But, I can hold off on that 'til after College.

Because once you start working, you don't stop because you are dependent on it. Most of my friends rarely have time to do stuff like backpacking because they are so busy with school, internships, and clubs. After graduation they are busy looking for jobs.

So definitely considerate because I know i put a lot of things off that i wanted to do before entering college.

If you're set on a career, I would start as early as possible. If you don't need the money yet, vacation and then get work. What's good about internships is that it is a transition usually to full-time positions if you perform well.

I'm not planning on taking any more internships. I'm looking at boring retail jobs working nights. Steadily padding my bank account is my number one priority this summer. I just hope that I can travel!
