Summer 2010: Math Camp or Multivariable?

Hi,

So I was wondering whether I should apply to PROMYS this summer or if I should take multivariable at my local university.

Some background info about me:
-planning to be a math major
-I'm a junior
-took AP Calc BC sophomore year, AP Stat this year
-went to SUMaC last summer
-accepted into Princeton's SWIM program and will be attending this summer (it doesn't conflict---PROMYS is 2 days after SWIM)

What do you think? Should I apply to PROMYS (not sure if I'll get in, but I want a definite decision before I start working on the problems) or should I take multivariable?

My experiences with math camp last summer were amazing, so I'd really like to go to PROMYS---at the same time, I want to learn multivariable this summer because I won't have much time next year.

I am really torn between the two and don't know what to decide. It'd be awesome if I could get some advice.
Thanks!

This depends: when do you need a decision about PROMYS by? I wish you had started to work on the problems earlier, as they take about 3-4 weeks for decisions, and sign ups for that multivariable class may end. However, I would apply whether you know you can go or not. It’d be really great for you to attend PROMYS (btw, if you can get most of the problems, apply to PROMYS, as you’d have a pretty good chance of getting in).

If you really want to take multivariable, try to schedule it during the school year if possible? PROMYS is a great opportunity for math lovers, as I read on AoPS that it has “a habit” of making most of its participants into mathematicians.
