most people are probably going to be reluctant to give out essays when it is so easy for them to be copied and all the hard work put into them wasted ;)

sorry ahsdraniasura, i don't share my essays.. :)
haha conspiracy against asians.. true.

i have been re-reading some of the emails i got from the lady to see if there are any hints that she (subconsciously) gave me on whether i got rejected or accepted.

then i realized that i was about to cross the border to obsession.

what are your CMU-free plans over the summer?

OMG...I GOT THE LETTER....I WAS ACCEPTED.....YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear XXXXX, Congratulations! You have been admitted to the Carnegie Mellon 2008 Pre-College Advanced Placement/Early Action program. you might have applied to multiple programs, but you have only been admitted into the pre college AP/EA program. We are excited to have you join our community for the summer!

To confirm you enrollment, please complete and return the second page of this letter to Enrollment Services with a ceheck or money order of 100 dollars payable to Carnegie Mellon (no credit cards please), postmarked on or before Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Blah blah blah....

The selection process was extremely difficult due to the large number of applications we received. Your background is impressive and we are confident that your participation in the Pre College program for Diversity will be rewarding, both academically and socially. You should be proud of you accomplishments

GREATEST DAY EVER!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!!

I originally applied to the SAMS program, but I guess they thought I was "over qualified" for it...so AP/EA here I come!!!!

ashdraniasura--
try to call a bit earlier! their office appears to close at 5pm EST. also, i have my stats on my stat profile. it's a bit incomplete because things keep getting cut off under extracurrics and honors/awards =__=;;

my CMU-free plans would've been getting shipped off to cornell's summer program. i'm actually quite glad i don't have to go there because i heard their campus is quite hilly. (can i say that the only physical exercise i enjoy is DDR? :P)

Congrats to everyone accepted into the CMU Summer programs..

For those waitlisted (including me)...
If the postmark date to reply is May 14, then CMU will surely allow a week for all mails to come in, then they'll start looking into the waitlist by May 21. Maybe take a few days to select again, so maybe by the 3rd or last week of May we can know whether we are accepted or we have the whole summer to play Grand Theft Auto (or Smash Bros. Brawl).

okay lol guys, thanks for being so open.... i didn't mean to make it sound like i wanted to rip off other ppl's essays.....i just thought if you'd already been accepted, it wouldn't make much of a difference....anyways sorry for seeming overforward. i totally understand.

and now the main reason i'm posting right now, after having been completely drained by ap calc like an hour ago, lol, is cuz i called them from school.

the lady told me "they're still working on yours" and when i asked when i'd find out, she told me to call again friday....

which is really weird since you guys are starting to get big envelopes already....so i guess i probably got rejected cuz i turned it in late and they just haven't had time to get around to rejecting me properly....which is just great.

Maybe they just mean what they said that they are still working on your application. From what I'm reading, CMU has been pretty straightforward in saying whether you're accepted, rejected or waitlisted.

^ haha...thank you. I really hope you get off the waitlist. You seem like a pretty cool kid (judging from the 5 posts of yours that I have seen...lol)...
