I personally think that applying for summer for “better chances” is false because when you submit your application for the fall term lets say they reject you, the school automatically considers you for summer … so its the same chance IMO either way you get considered for summer admission (except if they accept you for fall)

I believe you are required to do 9hours of summer term. I recommend Summer B so you get used to the campus and classes! My daughter started Summer B and made some of her best friends there!

No one knows the acceptance rate for summer. UF says it’s not any better, but some folks believe that’s not the case. As Twiggy22 pointed out, UF has in the past offered Summer (or even Spring) as an option, even if you didn’t pick it (in an effort to increase enrollment). No clue what they will do this year. :)

First, look at First-Time-in-College stats and not Total, which includes transfer students.

You’ll see 47.6% for Summer(2012) and 42.8% for Fall(2012).

Next, of the 3,460 admitted, 1,366 were for Innovation Academy. What is the acceptance rate to IA? Close to the average (47%) or is it much higher (60%?). If it’s higher, it will bring up the average % for Summer.

Finally, some students who applied to Fall term, where only accepted to Summer B (or Spring). Do you have a better chance if you apply for Summer B, verse a student who applies for the fall, but may be offered Summer B? How would this be reflected in the spreadsheet? We don’t know.

Both of the above two points “could” explain the 5% delta between Summer B and Fall.

OR, you do have a better chance. Take your pick. I would think your chances are better, since you’re willing to go ether term, while someone who’s only willing to go in the Fall, is competing for fewer slots.
