is anyone going...august 1

Thanks

I will be there, def. See ya there???

yup im going!
how much spending money are you guys gonna bring?

I’m not sure, I live 30 minutes away, so i’m thinking if i am strapped for cash I can go home for it XD. And do my laundry at home too, since the laundry area only accepts quarters :C

^ and “triton cash”, practically a debit card used all around campus and some places off campus, you load the money, it never “disappears” at the end of the year or anything

its very convenient for laundry, thats all i ever used

tritoncash.ucsd.edu

I had no idea you could use the card for laundry :O

yep, they have keypads that you just swipe it at, then type in the washer/dryer number…easy as pie, and soo much more convenient than always having to worry about quarters

I wonder what this talent show is going to host. I hope I don’t have to do it XD

For those attending the program, where do you check in at?

Here at Summer Bridge guys! Who in CC UCSD forum is here at this program? If so, stop by 360 I’m here to meet all you wonderful people.

PS: SB ROCKS!

OMG after major stalking, I found this.

Though I’m kinda late haha.
SB was awesome!
I’m asssuming ChristianWu is Christian Wu. Is TNE, Thieny?

So, how was summer bridge. For those not attending, could you paint a picture of your experiences at summer bridge. Inquiring minds want to know what we missed…

Amazing. It’s like falling in love. Or rather, it is exactly that.

4 weeks together, not only taking classes and stressing out over projects and papers, but also hanging out, having fun, sharing so much about yourself, finding out so much about others, telling your new friends things you never thought you’d tell anyone, growing SO CLOSE to people you know you’ll be friends with forever.

Summer Bridge… Wow… It is the best experience before college starts.

When I first arrived on campus, I felt awkward. It was strange not knowing anyone. The first day was THE most nerve wrecking day. The suite meetings are fantastic! For the first week, there was A LOT of ice breakers and ground rules, but after that, it was not necessary anymore.

For the first week, going to the bathroom and taking showers ARE AWKWARD! Exposing yourself naked through a frosted glass isn’t something that is appealing. Doing a number #2 and trying to not embarrass yourself is the most terrifying thing to do!

But seriously, when Summer Bridge stated that YOU WILL MAKE LIFETIME friends, they were not lying. Four weeks of intense studying, group studies, talking until dawn, and then passing out in class was always fun!

Lectures were intense and exciting, but there were times where it was redundant and meh, but those are the days where there was little homework, so there was a lot of socializing amongst suites and suite mates. Suite meetings are the best thing ever. It is a time where we can share our secrets (and you REALLY do share you secrets) and that is where the emotional connection is established among everyone. Getting to know each other physically and mentally is not always the best thing, but it allows us to break out of our comfort zone.

The one on one with our ATC (academic transition counselors) are the best thing ever. They are there for YOU and they DO listen. Spilling out all my problems and stress onto them, and hearing them repeat what we just said is unbelievable! You really do feel special and loved.

The group projects, the late night snacking (you do this A LOT), and the late night random taboo days are hilarious!

All in all, summer bridge allowed everyone to get to know the campus as well as the 120 something students + faculty there! It has prepared me physically and mentally on what to look forward to. This experience in the last four weeks have left me with more memories than I have ever had in High School!

Typing this right now has made me tear up a bit, knowing I won’t be able to see my suite mates until welcome week sucks, but knowing that we WILL see each other soon brings happiness!

SUMMER BRIDGE 2009!!!

@ stannislaus Yeah I am Christian Wu in SB, who are you?!

omg christian. READING that made ME tear up a bit.
Gosh I miss y’all so much.

And… try to guess who I am. haha. I’m yo’ suitemate!

I don’t like guessing games :P

omg christian. who’s the only other person in your suite who goes on CC?
It’s like… the first thing I said to you when I met you! D:<
