Summer bridge!

uh so they begin notifying acceptances beginning july 6 but I haven't recieved anything. Has anyone got in already? post here if your going!

I got an email from them today.
sadly, I was waitlisted =[[[

The email said that they had “over 300 students apply for the 140 spaces available.”
I dont think I’m getting in lol

I was wondering if… the fact I haven’t heard yet means I’m likely rejected

do you mind sharing ur info? (which quintile school, low income…etc)

I didn’t have any :frowning: (but have heard people getting in who I don’t expect to have any either)

I just checked my e-mail right now. I’m also on the waiting list. :frowning: The sent the e-mail two hours ago. Grr. This totally ruined my day.

@uchogwarts: well idk about my schools quintile…but my school was one of California’s low performing schools. Income wise my family is poor. My parent’s made less than $20,000. I don’t know what they looked at, if our GPAs and Test scores mattered much or if it was more on the essays that we wrote. This ruined my day too. Lame.

@UCSD951 We’re in a similar situation. I, too, am on the wait list. My dad makes about $20,000 and I come from a public school ranked second from the bottom of the district. I have no idea what they looked at. I went to one of their orientations last month. They mentioned that each category had points and whatnot, meaning that they look at everything. I’m not too sure though. My GPA was 3.9 and I thought my essays were decent and to the point. Oh mannn. :(

waitlisted…wow did they just waitlist everybody? and you guys were from their targeted groups!
they invited students from low quintile schools to some overnight thingy…so while I don’t know the quintile this tells me its not low enough for them to care.

and I have other plans in case I don’t go to summer bridge, which I have to decide soon…this puts me in a difficult situation. ruined my day too

I shouldn’t have thought I was going to be automatically accepted into Summer Bridge. Darn my aspirations lol.
Yeah now I might as well get a job…blah…

could it be that they haven’t made their decision and just waitlisted everybody (b/c they promised acceptance letters by now)? wishful thinking hehe
i mean sometimes a small sample size could mean something too…

@uchogwarts: lol i doubt your wishful thinking is correct…but maybe it is haha
well if all else fails, we’re still going to UCSD :D

They sent out acceptance emails on July 6th. Those who were waitlisted received theirs the day after. =/

I got in. Got my e-mail on July 7th and received the packet/info to fill out today (:

lucky
are you in their targeted groups (do you know why they picked you?)

UCSD951: Yep see you there :)

@JustMadeUsername: very lucky indeed lol I’m jealous

@uchogwarts: You think they wait listed everyone that wasn’t admitted? Or did they actually deny some poeple?

I would guess they waitlisted everybody. and since I got my email pretty late (same day but after you), that might mean I’m on the bottom…:frowning:
and I really wanted to take those 2 classes too…they sounded interesting and not things I will be taking during the year

I got in. they sent my email on the 6th. you guys should know sometime after the 12th if your not waitlisted anymore

I read the email they sent me again and I noticed that it said “changes may occur up through the day the program begins on July 31.”
I hope that they give us a few days notice if we do get in rather than letting us know the night before.

@uchogwarts: Idk what they look for. I come from a low income family and my school is pretty much in the ghetto. Sad but true. My friend got rejected and he came to America in the 9th grade, so maybe the essay had something to do with it?

@JustMadeUsername: You are the kind of students they are targetting…they said it somewhere, although some people on here come from low income families too and were waitlisted, while someone from my school who I doubt has any of those characteristics they listed (also including minorities…etc) got in.
Did you write your essays on that? Just wondering since its not like it’ll help me any…although I can try to help my younger friends out in the future.
