I’m a freshman in high school right now and want to do some type of leadership summit/institute/conference/program next summer (summer '10)

Right now I’m leading towards the Brown Leadership Institute…
but I wanted to hear first hand from those of you who have actually attended the program…

Oh and 1 more thing - Let me know if there are any other great leadership summer programs out there that I haven’t already listed that I can apply to as a rising Sophomore

You could do Duke TIP’s Leadership thing.
I haven’t done it, but I’ve done a Duke TIP (which stands for Talent Identification Program, just because they only accept “gifted” kids, which means you need a certain PSAT/SAT score… or just two good teacher recommendations. It’s not that selective; I think they accept a third of applicants or maybe even more) program and regular Duke program, and it seemed like the leadership kids were really into it.
I believe it’s cheaper than Brown, and I think it’s only 2 weeks… I’m not sure, and though I’d still go with Brown, you should check into it.

Thanks HeartLikeASocket.

I looked up the ‘Duke TIP Summer Leadership Institute.’ It’s two weeks long (just like the Brown one) and costs just a tad bit less. I think I’m leaning more towards the Brown one than Duke because in the Brown program the professors/instructors help you develop an action plan which you can use to create your own website/organization to help people in your community.

But I’ll still keep the TIP in mind. Have you heard anything about the other four leadership programs I listed on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/819308-summer-leadership-programs.html?

Any other takers?

I hope you ended up doing it man. I just came back from it a week ago. Best 2 weeks of my life.

Brown dorms are disgusting though.

xArtist -

Hey, unfortunately I wasn’t able to do it this year. :(

But…I was in India the whole summer and just came back last week. I got to do some volunteering in various orphanages there that I’ve been involved with for the past three years.

I hope I can do it next year!

By the way, which course did you take?
