1) Me!
2) Outside of the States(China), rising sophomore
3) I have no idea
4) pillow, bedsheets and A FAN! just check out the list on their website
5) I’m torn between social psychology and Giants of Philosophy(yay!!), any suggestions?

No. There is no air conditioning and in the middle of the summer, it’s absolute torture for someone who isn’t used to that sort of environment (HOT and humid). It was SO hot.

Clothes, laptop, a fan, snacks, flip flops for the shower (our showers actually had green slime at the bottom so I was glad I had flip flops).

I took the latin & greek roots of english. good class.

@wavesacha:

1)let’s skip step one, I don’t feel like typing YAY every single time. Ooooh, I forgot, I’ll be a rising Sophomore too !! Yay. (doesn’t really change anything, I’ll still be the most childish person on campus, and aske everyone "If you were a carrot, would you rather be cut in pieces or be eaten… whole)
2)I’m international too (gosh that sounds pretentious…) I’m from Paris. (that’s in France, just in case you dunno that…) My best friend is chinese !! I like how she can’t see anything when she laughs. If I get to meet you, I’ll try and make you laugh A LOT. (stay away from me, I have a terrible sense of humor)
3)I don’t know either, obviously why I asked. thanks for the info hailey1477…
4)I’ll be sure to bring at least 12 fans. France is cold, I’m afraid I might die from the heat.
5)POLITICS & MUSIC. My 2 passions combined. disagreeing with people (=politics. Naah just kidding. I’m probably the only 15year old girl in the world who’s into politics…)
Oh, and music. Which is like the 2nd best thing in the world. Behind chocolate.

Well, enough rambling for today. SEE YA.

Oh, I forgot. I would say Giants of Philosophy, because that was one of the courses I wanted to take before I had a love at first sight experience with that other course. (Yes, I cheated on your course ← that wasn’t funny)
And also because that’s the course one of the girls on the videos took. (stalker much ? I don’t think so.)

^And also because the course catalog said you guys were gonna read Sartre, and “Nausea” is only my favorite book in the whooole world.

@Iknowwhocares

Geez I’m kinda confused! What video are you talking about?
I’m a total newcomer to philosophy. Even if I do enjoy Nietzsche’s work, his name is not mentioned on the course catalog. (worst thing ever)
Are you really going to take a fan with you? 18~28℃ is totally fine with me. (Well, at least that’s what I got from Providence’s weather forecast webpage)

They posted videos on the Brown website, with former Summer@Brown students talking about their experience. (link: [Summer@Brown Videos | Brown University Office of Continuing Education](Pre-College Program | Brown University))

Honestly I don’t know squat about philosophy… But they do say “and others” on the course description. (there’s still hope!)

I am gonna take a fan… right now, in Paris, it’s approximately 6℃ and it’s still too hot. (I’m a ski person… guess it’s in my blood).

Maybe it’s 18~28℃ in Providence NOW…

Sorry about my rambling.

You don’t have to take a fan. It’s much easier to rent one while you’re there (they have them available during check-in). But I highly suggest it. I’m from New Jersey, so I’m used to the same kind of weather as Providence, but even I thought it was ridiculously hot, especially at night when you’re trying to fall asleep.

^^ 28°C, its nothing compared to what we experience her in India. I dont expect to be :eek: when I experience the weather at providence.

1) Meeeeeeeeee:)
2) upstate NY/ '13 <3
3) No idea, but it is Brown… Lol
4) Clothes, laptop, personal hygiene stuff… Lol, the usual.
5) Definitely some science/math classes

3) Don’t know
4) My laptop, clothes, and as for the fan i think i’ll rent one (even thought im quite used to heat as I live in southern spain, 40ºC in summer)
5) Infectious and epidemic disease.

:)

1)Me!
2)From NY, will have just finished soph. year
3)I have 2 cousins who are at Brown now, and they’ve both said it depends on the dorm (the guy likes his dorm, the girl doesn’t).
4)I will bring my laptop, lots of fans, shoes galore ( ) and hopefully i can get my hands on a mini-fridge
5)So far I’m signed up to take Invisible Cities and Ideal States, but I’m going to sign up for stuff to take earlier. I’m considering Travel Writing, Future Perfect II, Apocalypse in American Lit., Women & Leadership…and a bunch more. I won’t waste all the space haha. I’m definitely English oriented though, but I love cultural studies… I’d love to discuss courses if anyone’s interested!

See you there!!

Omg, wow, you are thinking of taking social psychology too? I thought I was the only one interested… haha! :D

Hi everyone! Is anybody taking the course ‘So You Think You Want to be a Doctor’? Also, about the showers, does anybody know if they are individual showers? like with curtains/doors? ANYWAY, I’m sooooo excited to go to Brown this summer!

@Dracolis I have a friend who’s coming, and she’ll probably take social psychology…

Anybody taking Quantum Revolution?? Or is it just me??

Guys, I’m a little confused about something… Is this a 1-week thing or is it multiple weeks?

@LesleyCordero Depends on what course you’re taking. For the Pre-College program, it can go from a week to 4.
