At least in high school with a bunch of morivated kids thinking about going to brown

So if the girl is a slut if she wants to have sex within a 1-3 week time, what is the guy?

Well, not exactly. ANYONE can get into Summer@Brown…so not ALL of them WANT to go to Brown…

@fireandrain: a pimp? lol. isnt that how society views them these days??

haha whoops…i meant make out not actual sex.

A pimp is the prostitute’s “manager,” so to speak. Sorry, I just wanted to point out the double standard here, that a girl who has sex in this situation is considered a slut while the guy isn’t. Either they are both sluts, or both not.

well, i was just trying to make a joke… I wasn’t serious by any means about the pimp. im not condoning sex after a week of knowing each other.

Hi! You went to Summer@Brown right? Could you please tell me if 14 and a half is too young? I am a 14 and a half year old girl and I don’t want to feel wierd or left out! What is the normal age range? THANKS SO MUCH <3

^I’d like to know too

I went to Summer@Brown last summer and most of the people there were 15-17. Within my friend group of 13, 7 were incoming seniors, 5 were juniors and I was the only sophomore. I’d say this was representative of the student body as a whole, though there may have been more juniors than seniors in the program.

I’m hoping to go there this summer and I’ve applied for the college credit program. I’m rather nervous too, and I hope they accept me. I’d be a rising senior by the way Perhaps I’ll see you there :)

hey yo imma hit this jawn up

Is it worth it?

not really. from what i understand, the program doesn’t really help you with admission to Brown and it won’t help your college apps if that’s what you’re looking for. If you want to be away from your parents for a couple weeks and have fun with people your age, then it’s fine.

Anyone have any experience with it? (which classes did you take?)

Took a 3-week course

What do you do on your free time?

Whatever you want. You can sit in your dorm, go to Providence, or do w/e. You have to follow the curfew though

Are they very strict?

Not really, just don’t do something stupid overtly, like drinking or doing drugs in front of your RA. Everyone has a curfew, which I believe is 11 on the weekdays and 12 on weekends. After those times, you have to stay on the floor of your dorm (which are generally all-male or all-female) and you aren’t allowed to go to other floors. A lot of people smoked, particularly the international kids, but no one cares honestly.

Is it hard to get into?

no, my high school messed up my transcript and I still got in. I’m not sure if anyone is rejected; I think the program is basically there for Brown to make money. People didn’t really talk about their GPA’s, so idk.

What does the average day consist of?

wake up, eat, go to class, then do whatever you want. A lot of people on my floor played frisbee a lot, some people stayed in the dorms a lot, some people went to the mall, etc… They set up one-day trips during the weekends sometimes…when I was there, there were trips to Boston and Newport, RI.

this thread has been so helpful!

what’s the situation with drugs and alcohol? do people get high and what not? not the RA’s but like the actual students there. because if they do then I’d be pretty uncomfortable there :/

Hey guys! I’m wondering what are the normal agess of people that go there? I’m 14 and a freshman right now and im worried i’ll be the youngest! btw im doing the so you think you want to be a doctor course this summer from june 18 to july 6th message me if you’re doing the same course, have any advice or are the same age as mee! :)

Hi, I’m a rising senior, and I’m going from June 18th-July 6th!

^Me too!!
Has anyone tried emailing their course instructors?? Both of my instructors are Graduate Students.

DEFINITELY GO FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN, BUT YES 1 WEEK IS WORTH IT!!

I went for 3 weeks this past summer; it was such a great experience. You meet tons of new people, and you basically can do whatever you want (including leave the state) as long as you don’t drink/do drugs. You can basically do whatever after you finish your work for your course. My class was in the morning, so I got up, went to class, did my daily work, and then chilled with my friends. Thayer street has lots of stores, and there’s a mall about 5 minutes away from campus. It’s a great town. We also smoked hookah basically every night. You should definitely go. Best experience.

$5,094 seems like a lot for a three week class. From what I understand, this is for just one class that meets for under three hours a day. Can anybody comment whether that’s the case and whether this is a reasonable price? Other summer programs seem to offer a lot more for less.

Who’s coming to Brown this summer? I got accepted.
Pleased reply with your course dates If you’re coming.
I’m going for the July 23 - Aug 3 Leadership Course
