Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and I made an account just to get some opinions. In the past I was planning on becoming a finance major, and applied to a business course at NJIT for three college credits. I was accepted, but now I'm leaning towards a career in health/medicine. It's currently too late to find a course related to this field and I'm ambivalent canceling the business course because I'm still not entirely sure about my sudden change of heart. Should I stick with the course since it's still doing something productive over the summer or should I opt out of it due to its irrelevance to the health/medicine field? Thanks in advance.

Business is NOT irrelevant to the health care industry or medical field. Physicians and health care professionals with a strong grasp of business are greatly in demand. Stick the course and do some medical-related volunteer work on the side to see how you feel about patient care.

Sounds good, I planned on volunteering at a hospital nearby when school starts but I like what you said. Thanks!

Why don’t you volunteer at a hospital NOW, instead of taking a business course that, while it might teach you some interesting knowledge, will only be marginally beneficial for your resume.

That’s actually not a bad idea either, I’ll call up some of the hospitals I had in mind and see if they’re taking volunteers at this time.
