Summer courses? Community college?

Hello! I am currently a sophomore in high school and I would like to take some high school summer courses at a community college. Basically, I'm not in math honors at my high school, and due to this, I will not be able to take a science AP until senior year (which I don't like). I am taking geometry as of right now (sophomore year, regular class), and I would like to take a high school summer course of algebra 2/trig at a community college. Not only that, they dropped me to an earth science regular class. I was suppose to be put into chemistry, but my school did not allow me because I had to of have taken geometry previously so I also want to take a high school summer course of chemistry at a community college because I am one step behind 1/2 of my grade.

If I take a high school summer course of algebra 2/trig, will I be able to get into pre-calc when I'm a junior? (I have to take the regents because I'm from New York, and I'm not sure if I can do this with all the common core stuff)

If I take a high school summer course of chemistry, will I be able to get into an science AP class when I'm a junior? (also have to take a regents for this)
I'm assuming I can take these 2 regents in August with the people who failed it the first time in June.

I would like to take these courses at Nassau Community College, but I'm not sure how much it is and how it works. (I researched about it, but it is not very clear to me, so it would be helpful if someone could fully explain!)

Thank you. :)

community colleges do not have high school classes, they are college level classes- there is no such thing as a high school summer course of chemistry at a community college. If you see an algebra class on the course catalog, it is most likely a remedial class, which you would not want to take. Most of your questions can only be answered by your school, as different high schools have different policies. I would stick to your current track, however. Colleges won’t punish you for a pre-determined track that you can’t change.

@guineagirl96 Stick with being in 2 regular classes (chemistry and algebra 2/trig)?

Talk to your counselor. You may be able to take summer school through your district or even another one. (My district doesn’t allow summer school for ‘getting ahead’ but they’ll accept summer credits from a neighboring district’s summer school.)

Yes, you need to accept that that is your placement. Your school has their math level requirements for a reason.

Basically, any math class thats higher than geometry will definitely be in the community college.
