Summer Financial Aid Dispursement? Help!

Long story short I go to FSU and I'm taking 3hrs A, 6 hrs B, 6 hrs C. Financial aid will be sent out tomorrow and my awards changed at the last minute. If you are getting stafford loans, do they take out tuition for all 15 credit hours tomorrow or will I pay for C after add drop in july? Since I'm taking at least 6 credit hours in C, will I get more loans in for C in July or is what I get tomorrow, it? I've been searching the FSU websites but they are not very helpful unless I'm just looking in the wrong place.

Thanks!

Did you call the finaid office? Summer varies greatly from college to college both in how it is structured (1 semester, 2 short terms, etc. etc.) and to some degree how finaid is disbursed and allocated. Calling FSU directly should get you the answers to the question you are asking. I know that for my S1 there was no direct information on finaid for summer terms (not FSU)…I had to call and ask.

I agree. You need to ask the school.

My daughter’s school does not disburse any aid until the student has started all the classes signed up for the summer. If the classes are in different sessions this ends up with payment for some classes being overdue. So they go through a whole weird process of charging interest on the unpaid tuition, and putting a hold on the students records and enrollment. Then when the aid is disbursed they back the interest out and take off the holds. Very convoluted, but I guess it is to ensure they don’t disburse more aid than the student is ultimately eligible for. Freaked us out the first year.

Okay thank you, I was planning on calling the school I was just also trying to see if there was a way I’d be able to sleep tonight I’m stressed to the max. This is my first summer session and it seems to be the most complicated thing ever and I’m pretty sure I just got my first gray hair. Thanks very much for the advice :)
