Basically for summer sessions will the financial aid be based on the 2011-2012 school year? or the upcoming 2012-2013 school year, the fafsa i just filed 2-3months ago?

It depends on your school. Some schools are what is called summer headers, meaning the summer is part of the following year. They would use 2012-2013 FAFSA. Others (most, I think) are summer trailers. They would use 2011-2012.

You would need to check with your school. If you have already maxed out your pell and your loans, there may not be much available in the way of aid in the summer.

Usually session 1 is part of the previous year (2011-2012) and session 2 is part of the next year (2012-2013)

^^not the case at all with the schools I have experience with. They were summer trailers and all their summer sessions were part of the previous year for FA.

jack, check with your own school to find out how they do it. Every school is different. Just be aware that if they are a summer header school, aid in the summer might decrease aid during the regular school year (depending on the type of aid).
