Summer High School

Does anybody know if I HAVE to get a rec. letter from my counselor for the Tisch Summer High School program??
this is killing me! I go to an overpopulated school where the counselors dont even know the students names!

I don’t know. BUT, if you DO need one, what about writing a sample for him/her? I did that to help out someone who offered to write a financial aid letter we needed. But then they just kept putting it off and we NEEDED it. So I said “Hey, lemme help you out”. They didn’t just sign it of course, they rewrote it and changed a lot. But it IS hard, and the hardest part is getting started. So maybe you can just “help” them get started. I know schools that actually REQUIRE this. Some (like my D’s), only ask for an activity sheet and they work from that. Same for teacher recs. But some ask you to write your own. Then they know what you HOPE they’ll say, and you highlight the things you want them to remember about you. And you can say “I read that it would be a good idea to help get you started by reminding you of some of my activities, because I know how busy you are right now…so hopefully this sample will help…but I’m here to answer any questions you have…THANKS!”

Thanks for the help! However with the Tisch Summer program, it only asks for the recommender’s email, and then they email that person the stuff they need to fill out and I think they have to write an essay addressing a prompt regarding the student, so I do not know what the recommender will be recieving to I couldn’t realy help them out.
