So we've got to read the Odyssey over the summer, yeah? Are they going to send us a mailer or something giving us a particular version to read? Or can I just go pick any copy up from the bookstore?

Thanks.

You will receive a copy of the Robert Fagles translation in the mail sometime soon.

When our D was a rising Reed freshman Fagles’ Odyssey was the parents’ summer homework; it was a fun and easy read (students read The Illiad way back then).

Cool, thanks for the info.

vonlost: That was before the most recent HUM110 syllabus change, remember.

^ Yes, that’s what I meant; my “way back then” was an exaggeration about how time has flown since our D was a freshman, six short years ago.

Yeah, but teh kidz don’t know that, silly.

Hm… Has anyone received a copy yet? I don’t think I’ve heard anything about summer reading from Reed at all.

I know students who received their copies today (well, yesterday).

Ah, alright.

I got my copy two months ago, together with my visa stuff.

You’ll get it, don’t worry.

Reed was apparently late in sending out all the stuff this year (of all years…), including bookstore pre-order information.
