Do we get our copy of The Iliad in the mail, or we do only get it if we attend an advising session?

If we do, any idea when?

If we do, any idea when?

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to come in the mail.

Now I’m considering just buying my own copy.

You get your copy through the mail only if you don’t attend one of the summer sessions. People who get mailed copies probably won’t receive until the end of the summer. I got mine a day or two before orientation.

thanks demeter – that clears it up

Speaking of the Iliad, any feelings about the translation we were given (Lattimore)? I was always curious to read the Fagles one, but I suppose if I did that I’d be at a bit of a disadvantage.

In 9th grade we had to read The Odyssey – my English teacher was pretty insistant that we get the Lattimore translation. I remember really enjoying reading it, so I think I’m just going to try out the Lattimore.

Ya I’ve heard some people are going to read that one, but I dunno – it seems like these academics like Lattimore the most. Maybe read Lattimore and if something’s ambiguous cross-reference it with the Fagles?

i’m reading the Fagles now because that’s the one the library just happened to have. I will reread the lattimore once i get the free one from the alumni association.

Interesting, my parents recently told me that they’ve received a copy of the book (I’m out vacationing). Has anyone else got it?

Yeah, I got it like 5 days ago.

I wish I could get mine. It might motivate me to get back to reading it.

Hahaha
I thought I was the only one.
for the first two days it will, afterwards it’ll just be the same.

Yeah… I remember stopping at Book I at least three times. lol
