summer intel research

im planning on doing an intel project this summer and i was wondering if it would be better to apply to a program like the garcia program or having a personal mentor (professor/researcher).
also, what other sort of research project programs are out there?

the garcia is pretty well known for having a lot of intel quality projects but yet again a good mentor could probably help do the same but the list on the garcia website is nothing short of impressive.

Just wondered what this is, as we are also interested in doing science research projects.

When the site mentions juniors and seniors in high school, do they mean entering those grades or having complted them, i.e., does the student have to be age 16 or whatever at the time of the summer program? I ask because my student is grade accelerated so young for grade etc. Also, is the high school program held at all three sites, do youi have a choice? And is there housing for students with supervision? Financial aid or are students expected to pay for expenses?
