I'm trying to get an internship over the summer after my first year of college (I'm a chemical engineering major) and I'm wondering how hard it will be. I have taken no chemical engineering courses but I have taken a year of inorganic chemistry and a year of labs related to those studies. Is there anything I can do related to my major over the summer? I also know how to program a bit too.

Am I expected to have a lot more knowledge before applying to an internship? What are some tips at finding something worthwhile to do over the summer? I feel like I have virtually no experience/knowledge at anything at this stage.
