Help!!
My son landed a great internship in Palo Alto for the summer. Problem is where to live. Stanford term doesn't end until mid June so all of the sublets seem to start then (he begins work end of May). On top of that his car is on the East coast. I DO NOT want him driving to CA and then back east at the end of the summer.

Any housing/transportation ideas?

We live in a large east coast city with plenty of several colleges in addition to public transporation/walking so this is quite the shock to the system.

Try asking the internship or Stanford .

Ask your son how close the Cal Train station in Palo Alto is to the campus/intern position location. If he is able to take Cal Train, he can probably easily rent a room in a home in a nearby city for the summer and commute that way.
I’d bet he would be able to find some temporary housing through some Stanford networking.

There’s often sublet/rental housing available earlier than mid-June:

[SUpost Classifieds](http://www.supost.com)
[craigslist: peninsula classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events](craigslist: peninsula jobs, apartments, for sale, services, community, and events)

Depending on where he is in the local area, he can use the Marguerite (which runs around the Stanford area) or VTA. If he’s farther away (e.g. San Francisco), he can use the Caltrain.

It’s a fun drive. Or he could do it as a family road trip, where ya’ll help him set himself up and fly back?

Biking in P.A. will be relatively painless. He might want to rent a bike.

AirBnB/craigslist rent until June, then sublet at Stanford?
