Summer job?

I am a sophomore this year, that just finished being an unpaid staff member at a Boy Scout summer camp of a couple weeks. Next summer I have the option to work at the camp as a full time paid staff member. I feel that this supplements my ECs nicely because I am going to become an Eagle Scout this year. However, my dad wants me to work at our family law firm next summer. I am considering becoming a lawyer so I think this could potentially be good experience. Both of these jobs sound fun, so I want to know which would look better on a college application? I am shooting for Ivy League schools and I feel that I have the grades and test scores that will give me a chance.

Bump…

The law firm would sound very impressive on your App, especially since you want to be a lawyer. And plus, you could get your lead to write you a letter of recommendation!

Yes I agree, however it is a family owned law firm so the person writing the rec would be my dad.

Depends what you’re interests are for a future job, I agree that the law firm sounds more interesting but if you want to pursue the other then go ahead. I don’t think it is such a big deal that your dad would be the man writing the future recommendations considering he owns the company, but maybe if you could work under someone else at the firm it would be smarter. Or in the end just find other job options.
