Congrats hmmidk!

From what I hear from people who have done SLP’s, the local summer leadership programs will usually lead to an interview for the internship, but its no guarantee that you will get the internship.

@junshik so would one interview with the firm during the 2 days that you spend in the local leadership program?

That I do not know, but I doubt that we’ll be getting interviewed during the local programs. But I have heard that having the SLP’s under our belt will look very good in terms of getting an interview for that respective company.

I’ve heard that in the national programs, some are given internships on the spot, and some have interviews with partners and then given internships on the spot, so it definitely depends.

Congrats hmmidk

I still haven’t heard anything back yet.

For those that have been accepted, is this something that you will put on your resume?

ctp, you betcha! This is something to help you stand out from the pack when applying for an internship or permanent position. Of course, if all goes well at these programs, you may receive an internship offer from that company, followed by a permanent offer the following summer, and not need to shop your resume around. That has been my DS’s experience.

@ctp2124- i will definitely put down the summer leadership program when applying for a full time internship at kpmg!

However i do wonder if it will look bad if I put this experience down when applying to other big 4 firms like EY and PWC. What do you think worrywart?

Thanks everyone! Dam its johnny, have you still not heard back yet?? i’m sure they are getting to you soon.

@audion- i still haven’t heard back from EY yet either… I thought they said they will notify us by april 18th? guess they’re behind schedule.

I haven’t spoken to anyone yet regarding putting a SLP for another big 4 firm on resume when applying for another, but my take on it –> put it down. I’m sure they will ask about it during the interview, and you can say that although the experience was tremendous, you didn’t see yourself to ‘fit’ in with the firm. Then you can move on and say that it feels different with “PwC” or “EY”, and that you feel at home when talking with the associates and managers etc. etc.

But that’s just my opinion, any other takes on it?

Yes, I would advise including it on resume, even if you participated in a competitor’s program. It shows that you’re marketable and being pursued by others.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense. Thanks for your inputs Junshik and worrywart!

The recruiter called me today to let me know I made it into the program.

I agree with what worrywart said it makes you sound more desirable since other companies are looking at you.

junshik: I am going to be attending a SLP at that office this summer. Which date are you going to be at the KPMG office?

@irvinelax5, July 11. You?

yeah, same. I got the letter in the mail today. Which school do you go to?

UCI, how about you?

CSUF, were your interviews with Trent and Julie? Also, are you looking at tax, audit, or advisory. I haven’t decided yet between tax and audit.

Oh so you had a 1:2 interview? I interviewed with Ryan, a senior manager.

I said I was interested in Audit, but I honestly still cannot decide between the two (audit and tax). I keep leaning towards one or the other… so I’m hoping the SLP will help me decide :]. Do you know how many were chosen from CSUF?

Yeah, I think I might have gone to lunch with Ryan. The layout for my interview was four applicants at lunch, then each applicant had two 1:1 interviews before or after lunch.

I am the only one that I know of so far going to this summers SLP. I didn’t interview through CSUF though.I also hope the SLP helps me make a decision. I have experience in tax and enjoy it pretty well, but would enjoy having an opportunity in audit.

has anyone heard back from E&Y yet?

I had an interview last friday april 22 with KPMG for discover program, i am wondering usually how long it would take to hear from them? i am so so so anxious right now
