Yes, thank you @helpingthekid73! D accepted to Brevard with the work-study scholarship. They did not send an email - I think it was a portal update, we only got a pic of a screenshot so far, lol!
wow! congrats! so many amazing options for her! how exciting!
How to compare NYO2 and BUTI? My kid got into both. We already accepted NYO2’s offer. I just found this forum. Now not sure if should go to BUTI as well.
arent they at the same time? Which program at BUTI?
The 2-week workshop or quartet program will not conflict with NYO2
Congratulations! Which program did your kid get into in Tanglewood? Some of the BUTI sessions overlap with the NYO2 session. What instrument does your kid play? NYO2 is a huge honor, free to participate and comes with a lot of weight and prestige!
I think you can only apply to NYO2 until you are 17, to NYO until you are 19. For BUTI programs you could be as old as 19 or 20, depending on the session.
Tanglewood is amazing, it is not free a free program, although they are very generous with merit scholarships and provide need based scholarships too! Tanglewood could be a longer program, if you are accepted to both Instrumental intensive and Orchestral, for example. Pretty sure if your kid was accepted in NYO2 this year - next year they will probably get into NYO, and to BUTI for sure!
Congrats! Sounds like your musician will have an exciting summer!
Congrats! It is very exciting! NYO2 sounds amazing, does your child want to do both?
He got into BUTI intensive workshop, quartet and orchestra. But orchestra overlaps with NYO2, we are not considering it. He never went to music camp before, so we are all very lost:)
Does he want to be away the entire summer? It may be a lot to navigate for a first summer at festivals.
My kids went to music camp…and then one went to BUTI. BUTI really isn’t a camp! But the kid loved it. First summer did 6 weeks there.
Does anyone have experience with scholarship appeals at BUTI? My S got into the workshop and YAO, but the scholarship is fairly small considering he also has been offered a full scholarship to Interlochen.
Thank you!
Good point! Thanks!
has anyone heard from Brevard or Bowdoin yet?
we heard from bowdoin with a reply date of 3/8.
Nothing from Bowdoin yet
My D22 got a no from Bowdoin but a yes from Brevard.
Can anyone with experience at Brevard answer these questions:
Is Chamber a part of the high school program?
How are teachers assigned for private lessons?
What is the daily/weekly schedule like?
Are the ‘fun’ things scheduled frequently enough? (ie) canoeing, swimming, walking to town, hiking
Thanks all!
Congrats on Brevard!
congratulations on brevard! i am sorry i know nothing about the program!
@howdidigethere what instrument does your D play? Has she attended summer programs in the past?
