Oh I see JSM. Maybe someone should call to see if these classes will open when we register, so that we have a better idea of what we can sign up for.

I will be in Honors so I can’t take ENC 1101 until fall anyways, but I am curious about Pre Calc (MAC 1140) being offered over the summer.

So when we uncheck the box that says show only open classes, it shows every class they have offered that may not be open yet for incoming freshmen? Because it says it has 0 seats, so i’m assuming that means they just haven’t opened them up yet?

That was the case last summer when my daughter went to orientation. The online course schedule said that cinema survey was all full BUT when she went to register they opened up about 10 seats in the class and she got in (because she went to registration with the COURSE NUMBERS WRITTEN DOWN and so was quick to get the class). If you want to know if they are doing it this was this year, check back at about 1 PM on the SECOND day of the first summer orientation session (not sure when that it). If they are offering these classes they will magically open up at that time. In the same line of reasoning, if you don’t get what you want at orientation, you can swap your classes at any time after orientation. Just log onto your myUCF on the second day of ANY freshman orientation day (at about 1 PM) and wallah, 5 or 6 spots in small classes or up to 20 spots in large lectures are magically vacant and available!!!

Tzais01- No, sorry. UF dosen’t do this. You cannot tell if there is room in a class at UF until you try to add it to your schedule…then a page pops up and says either section added or no more sections available. At UF, through ISIS, when you are adding classes, you can do a “search for all classes that meet my schedule”. Then you type in say…AMH 2010 and all the section’s that HAVE openings will show up with how many spots are left. At that point you can click directly on the course section number and add the class. If you need a class and it is full then you could go to your advisor and ask for help. Sometimes when there is a lot of interest they will add extra classes. When my daughter dosen’t get the section/professor that she wants at UF, she usually calls me for help since I have way too much time on my hands and usually spend it online LOL! I log onto her ISIS. click to register for classes, and keep trying to add the elusive section. I can usually get it for her eventually but it may take weeks of stalking ISIS. Also at UCF you cannot add a class if you already have the same class (different section) instead you have to do an online swap. At UF though, ISIS dosen’t care so you can add a class before dropping the old one. Help any?

Thanks, Seiclan. Didn’t mean to hijack the UCF thread. I know what you mean about stalking the system. I’m sure I’ll be doing my share of that since I’ve been trying to piece D’s schedule together while she’s busy finishing up senior year. I think that’s behind her now and we’re heading to Preview Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Can’t wait. Thanks again.

Seiclan,
I, too, appreciate your help with regards to UF’s system. Being a split family UCF/UF has its advantages: lots of nice people to help you out with both systems. :)

I was suppose to be at orientation today, but I got switched to Honors. I am glad that don’t have to go to the first orientation now. I am all ready for tomorrow to see what classes they open up for summer.

My D’s roommate is there now for Orientation. I hope to find out some info on how it went. D said that her roommate will text her with updates throughout the day.

My neighbor’s son said it went well. He got into the film survey class for summer B but he has to change the class he picked for his second course (he changed his mind). He got into Tower 2 for summer B and Fall also!

You don’t need an advisor. You just go into your MyUCF and click on “my schedule”, then click on the tab “swap a class”. Dropping is easy, but you can’t put something else in the same time slot until the time slot is clear OR do it at the same time as a “swap”.

My S and I are heading for orientation tomorrow. I’ll give you an update on everything and what to expect. I have to leave early on the second day due to a flight out so I’m hoping we can get out a bit early. If not a taxi will be in order… :(
