Honors Orientation

I will be starting UCF in the summer, but I will be going to Honors Orientation. Will I be able to register for summer classes at the honors orientation, even though it is a fall orientation?

Does anyone know how to register for the honors orientation? I’m on the page to select the date for orientation and the June 4-5 date isn’t listed…

Don’t Worry MysteryTime, I had the same problem and I got to register for the Honors Orientation. The thing is that they have it set up so only Honors kids can register for it. If you’re an Honors student you will see ONLY the June 4-5 one as an option, no other dates will appear. The thing is that you probably just recently were accepted so they have to update the list. I would give it some time. HOWEVER, it had been more than a month after I got in that they still hadn’t updated for me so my mom called and wouldn’t leave them alone so just call and tell them that you have to make reservations for hotel and stuff and that you need them to update the system and fix it for you NOW so that way they actually do it right then and there and don’t just put it off until later. Good luck and I hope this helps! See you at the Honors Orientation!! (:

P.S. Just in case, the lady who talked to me the first time I called said you should reserve another day just in case. She said and I quote: “I suggest signing up for another orientation in the meantime. July 1-2, July 13-14, July 20-21 and August 19-20 are Honors make-up dates for students that cannot attend the June 4-5 session. I would try to get into one of those dates while we wait for confirmation from the Honors college.”

My daughter had the same problems registering for the Honor’s Orientation last year. She just called the honor’s college and they were able to register her over the phone. All we had to do was mail a check for the fee. It was quick and easy.

Thanks guys. All I had to do was call the orientation services and she set it over the phone, so all I had to do was reload and continue

Is there anyone here who has attended an orientation previously, and can tell us the rough schedule? For example… is there a campus tour? What else do we do the whole two days besides meeting with advisors and registering for classes?

I’ll be going to the Honors Orientation in June but online they have a schedule of more or less what you’re going to do while you’re there. I’ll provide you with the link.

http://www.orientation.ucf.edu/index.php?p=f_fresh09_1

Yes, I see:

"Freshman Orientation Program:

During your Orientation Session you will have the opportunity to:
Work with your freshman academic advisor in a small group setting to build an appropriate class schedule.
Meet in a group setting with advisors from the college of your major.
Receive individual attention in small group sessions with a current UCF student on the Orientation Team.
Receive information on a variety of student services.
Register for classes.
Learn about campus life and explore ways to get involved.
Socialize with other new students and make new friends.
Have family members attend a planned program designed just for them.
Be introduced to academic policies and the academic support services at UCF.
Return to campus registered, well-organized, and better prepared!"

But it is not very specific. Like, “Socialize with other new students and make new friends.” It is not like that is actually on the schedule.

Does anyone here know what is going on Day 1 and Day 2 exactly?

all i remember from when my son went … we didn’t go, out of the country … was that day 2 was the registration day.

No one seemed to answer KnightForum’s question…
The honors orientation is for the kids doing summer AND fall sessions. They do one lump orientation so that the advisors can help the honors students choose the correct classes.

Thank you black&gold

Is anyone else here leaving tonight to stay on campus for honors orientation?

I’m leaving today to be at the Honors Orientation but I won’t be staying on-campus. Really excited to be at UCF tomorrow and take the tour :)

I am at UCF right now in my dorm. It took forever to get the internet to work, but its up and now I can’t wait until tomorrow.

Are there many students who stayed in the dorms?

Its hard to tell, but I would say that about more than half of the honors students are staying on campus. Even the ones that brought their parents with them are staying, and their parents are in a hotel.
The rooms are not all that welcoming, since they are bare, but you will only be sleeping in them for 2 nights, so its not that bad.

We had a long day today, from 8am to 9pm. Very exausting, and a lot to take in in one day. This did, however, make me decide that I want a single room, instead of a double. Its hard when your roommate doesn’t come to the room until after midnight. And you have to agree on when to turn the lights off.

Overall, UCF is intimidating to me, but I think once I get used to the campus it won’t be that mad.

A 13 hour day? That is tiresome. Good luck tomorrow knightforum!
