Methinks Ben (Golub) is emulating one of my posts on the Caltech board -- but on second thoughts, I'm prolly flattering myself that he's even read it.
Anyhow, I'm going to have to figure out where to apply in the Fall. Still can't decide between Caltech/MIT -- or some place where I can enjoy a social life as well as having some academic fun. (Tell me, what do the ObeOneCanKnowBes -- Jones and Golub -- think of USC? Don't hold back now.) As for summer -- I'm lifeguarding and going to Europe, and, hopefully, writing some k*a college essays.

Jones goes first? ;-)

I think USC is a great school. Caltech's campus is prettier and the students are more intense at Caltech, but USC has incredible diversity and a lot of opportunities in film, business, art, etc. It is a great place.

I'll echo what Ben #1 has said. The only real problem with USC (and with Caltech, for that matter) is the weather.

looks out the window and sighs

Summer plans? -- No interesting research or anything up that alley (though it would be fun). Instead, I will be driving a forklift at a cold storage facility in town... basically the only place around here that doesn't care when I put in 60+ hour weeks.

Overtime and doubletime are my best friends this summer. :D

-Jared

My summer plans are working full time as a day camp counselor (just to be a bit, you know, intellectual before starting MIT in the fall) and, uh, going to the beach a lot. Just to be really studious. :)

I'm fried after 20 hours of AP tests. Grossss.... so I'm, uh, making brownies during my double free period. Because it's de-stress-ing. But now I have to go write a 5 page essay about Crime and Punishment, of all awful books. :(

Oh well, I only have 22 school days before graduation! :)
