Summer Program Applications

Hey Guys,

I have recently applied to a couple of prestigious programs, and I was wondering, how do I write a good application essay? For example, should I make references to the program itself in my essay? What are important things to talk about?

Being yourself, letting them know who you are. My essays were basically a reflection of who I became over the past 3-4 years in high school- which gives them an insight of who I am and why I fit at their school

Also don’t repeat your ECs the have you write about that in your ECs/Jobs/etc… Section. Don’t be boring either- talking about how your cat is your love because you two had a cuddling session which made you fuzzy, won’t cut it. However, your in love with your cat because you two have a bond that will not break (then you talk about what a bond means to you, how you make bond, slip in how you will make new bonds in their college society, etc…)- bad example but you know what I mean. Don’t lie. Don’t talk about compelling things that will make the AO stop reading.

@ikooldiscovery‌ Thanks! But I’m a sophomore, and these prestigious programs want essays like Academic Interests and Career Goals…how do I make those interesting? Thanks!

Well then:

  1. Introduce what you currently are interested in pursuing.
  2. Talk about how long and why your interested in whatever.
  3. One obstacle that was a road block between you and your interest.
  4. How you overcame that obstacle and grew.
  5. Conclude with how this program will help you achieve your interest.

This format will result in a 350-500 word essay depending on what kind of writer you are. 3-4 are not as necessary, but it shows qualities of being a problem solver and a reflector.
