Summer Program Canceled Due to Coronavirus

Hi, I’m a rising senior and I was offered to do a research internship at City of Hope a few weeks ago but was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Will admission officers understand this?

Also, I’m starting to write my UC insight questions since we’re all quarantined and bored.
For the question that asks about taking advantage of an educational opportunity, most people write about world class internships at Stanford etc, but I want to write about my local hospice care internship and how it has shaped me, acquired emotional intelligence, proactive listening skills, etc, and I want to explain how interacting with hospice patients really changed me. The hospice care internship was one of most significant experiences in my high school journey but I feel like students w/ big STEM internships are going to be seen as more important, so I would like to know if my UC insight topic is alright to talk about or should I skip it?

Just about everything has been cancelled because of the crisis. Write about your internship. The readers are more interested in what you have to say about your experience than they are in it being in any particular setting. The readers are fully aware that lots of students have no access whatsoever to “big STEM internships”.
