Summer Program for Current Junior Hoping to go into Premed

Hi guys,

I am currently a junior and I hope to become a physician (in specific a cardiologist).
During the summer before my senior year, so June-August of 2018, I hope to partake in a summer program that will provide a bonus to my college application.

I’m currently researching at a lab and I enjoy it very much. I know of some prestigious programs like RSI and I will for sure be applying to that, but do you know of any other research institutions that would help an aspiring pre-med student?

I know SIMR is also another good program. If you guys could rank some prestigious summer research/premed programs that would be great!

SSP (prestigious astrophysics program) now has a biochemistry option.

@Ynotgo thanks for feedback! I’ll definitely look into SSP.

Any other good summer research programs for aspiring pre meds?

My friend did a summer program at Howard in DC, working in the hospitals. Not sure if you qualify, tho.

Also, Stanford’s Medicine summer program, and the University of Minnesota allows you to do research at their Lillehei Heart Institute

@arinuma

Thanks for your answers!

NIH has a pretty prestigious and competitive summer internship program as well!

@Bahubalo look at the MIT OEOP programs and TASP too. TASP isn’t science or medicine, but it’s a HUGE college app boost.

there’s also the Carnegie Mellon summer program, SAMS.
