Summer Program help! confused freshmen ):

Hi you guys! So I've been looking on the CC Summer Programs forum for a little, and I have a few questions. I'm considering maybe applying to Summer@Brown, and after some research I know of programs such as RSI, Exeter, Andover, Gov's School, TASP, Harvard Summer School Program, and Columbia's High School Summer Program (heard its a bunch of partying?)

Anyways..here goes:

1)I haven't taken the ACT or SAT yet...are these absolutely necessary to be accepted into any good/selective summer program? (i don't want to take them prematurely for fear of low scores)

2)How intense is the application process? As in, do they look at specific things? Is this comparable to a college application? (keep in mind I'm a newb at this, don't judge!)

3)Is it too late for most summer programs, esp. since its late Feb?

4)How hard is it to get into the programs above?

Last summer, I went to SIG (Summer Institute for the Gifted) at Princeton. Kind of a waste of my time, assuming acceptance rate is very high (some people there were a bit...undeserving?).

Thanks so much! Any answers would help!
