Summer Program or Work???

Ok, so I'm (obivously) trying to decide whether to work this summer or go to a 4 week program at Columbia (advanced creative writing, btw.) I love new york city, and I'm sure the program will be amazing, but if I go, I will

A)not make a cent this summer (you can't exactly take 4 weeks off work, lol)
B)not get my provisional until right before school starts (I don't know if that really matters, but...)
C)not have anything else to do for the rest of the summer

by the way, the job is lifeguarding, and possibly a second job at Hot Topic. Both are basically guaranteed to me. Plus, the lifeguard job could help me make the swim team next year and the Hot Topic summer job could extend to a year round part time position, which means money all year!

(My parents give me cash, but they won't buy me certain things, and having my own cash would help me out a lot.)

I took advanced creative writing at Columbia last year and I really loved it. I never get to write during the school year because I have so much work, but Columbia really helped me get right back into it. Plus, my teachers were amazing, and everyone was really talented.

Your summer is 8 weeks long, right? Well, if you spend four at Columbia, I don't see why you can't work the second 4 weeks...

assuming that u will be a rising senior this summer, go for the creative writing program. If ur like me, and u would be a rising junior, then WORK!!!

I am a going to be a rising junior, but there is also one more twist to the situation: I kinda want to apply to TASP after junior year. I know how hard TASP is to get into, and I thought the Creative Writing program would help me improve my writing so I could do a little better on the application essays. But then again, the essays aren't really creative writing, are they?

purpoise pal, it's pretty hard to get a job in the middle/end of the summer. the teen job market is extremely comptetive around here all year round, not to mention during the summertime.
