Summer Programs and Indians..

Hey,
I was looking through some summer programs of some prestigious universities (i.e. Stanford, Cornell, RSI etc.) and was honestly wondering if they were worth it?

I am currently in 11th grade will be the taking the SAT I reasoning test as well the Physics, Math II and Chemistry subject tests on the 27th of January. I will have to spend $91+$78+$78+$78 = $325 - so around ~Rs. 20,000 on the tests. I am aiming for ~2300+in SAT I and 800's on all the subject tests on the basis of practice tests.

The 6 week programs cost about ~$12,000 - ** Rs. 7.5 lakhs ** and as far as i could see was that there was no financial aid for internationals.

I understand that i will anyway have to take these tests in order to apply abroad, but i would take them later at my convenience rather than rushing for the summer program's deadline.

So does it really make any sense in applying for the summer programs?

If you can afford it, you may go for it. I am told it adds to your application, another dimension. Be sure to attend the program in the college that is on your list and where your stats are a fit interms of grades and SAT scores. Demonstrates interest in how much you like to be in that college. You can find your fit by looking at the freshman stats of the most recent admits of a particular college.
