Hi! A summer program I applied to was cancelled due to Corona. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good (and cheap/free) summer programs to do online? I’m looking for something science/medicine related, preferably something with research. I’ve looked into programs such as Pioneer but I can’t afford it. I really want to spend my summer doing research or something along the lines of that.
Thank You!
Hi, I have the exact same problem. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!
I just got an email about this virtual summer program called the Summer STEM Institute. It sounds really cool if you’re interested in research, and the mentors look amazing. It is kinda expensive though, but it looks like it’s worth the price… It also says on the site that there’s “generous financial aid,” so I’m gonna try and give it a shot.
STEM institute is ok but also not cheap. Yes they do provide finaid. I would recommend finding a topic and doing your own research. Try to reach out to teachers or even local college professors.
Yea I don’t know what to do this summer, I’m freaking out! I looked up the stem institute thing and it’s really expensive for online… don’t know if it is worth it or not. Anyone have more information on it?
are you doing cooper union summer stem
Look up summer institute for the gifted. They went online and classes are relatively cheap. They have some classes our math/science kid thought looked interesting. (You just need an sat/act/some other score at 95% or above).
Hey guys! You guys should check out the Texas A&M University GeoX program. It’s free and virtual for high schoolers
@mitochondriacell @Firefight @joyzhang357 I’m just reposting what i saw @USCinnovator write on the “Summer programs that look good on college applications” thread (applications close in 4 days)

Hey guys, I have a some experience with research (published in MICCAI, won a few fairs like JSHS and MSEF, etc.). A few friends and I (some ISEF grand prize winners, RSI alumni, JSHS National winners, etc.) have created a new association called IPARS (check out our website at ipars.org or hsresearch.org), and we’re actually doing 1-1 mentoring on a research project of your choice.
This is a great opportunity since it’s completely free, there’s chances to publish a paper in our journal and participate in our online science fair (free prizes), and learn from the cream of the crop in terms of high school research. Also, if you do well enough in a state fair/our fair, you can even become a mentor/secure an internship through us! If you’re interested, please go to our website and sign up on the mentoring program page!
