Hi! New forum poster, i made an account recently but didn't really post much- i just wanted to ask people who have done summer programs before
i don't live in the states, although i am a passport holder and much of my family is still there- i wanted to ask people about the summer programs specifically at georgetown, yale and uPenn.
i'm aware of the fact that they're all paying programs, and they are quite varied- at yale i would be applying to the young global scholars program, really intense and rigorous and challenging- i've had a stressful year and i'll be doing about 16 exams in may/june ( i'm living in the uk so i do GCSE's), so i don't know if i want to such a stressful program after 4 or 5 months of intense studying. but i'd love to hear peoples experiences.
the other two i want to do are fundamentals at georgetown (probably the foreign policy/expository writing(english)) or a research academy at upenn. one thing that's interesting to me about them is the fact that they're month long, an experience for college life etc, but i don't know if they'll be worth the amount of money ( i'm not saying they won't be, but i've never met anyone who's done them before so i have no idea if they're worth it), and if they're great in terms of social life/the area/ the people you meet, etc and if they really add any value to your college applications (i'm probably applying to unis here, but if i can do my sat's at some point during the next year, i'm hoping for some us ones).
i know this is quite lengthy, but i was really hoping to hear people who live in the states or have gone to those courses (or similar ones) before 's experience, just because i won't really get any other way to know what it's like.
if it helps, i've done summer courses before, just not ones like these that are more academic than just fun camps with a bit of work thrown in.

Sorry this is a little late…
Anyways, I did Georgetown’s Broadcast Journalism program this past summer and now I’m heading to Boston U for this summer. The Broadcast Journalism program is a week long, obviously not as intense as a month long program. But if you had any specific questions about Georgetown, or the basic schedule for their summer programs, I could help you out. Let me know, good luck :)

hi! thank you a lot, i haven’t gotten any replies and it’s getting closer to application time ahha
i was just wondering what the atmosphere is like at georgetown- i’ve been to dc twice and loved it, and i was wondering if we got free time, or if it’s more structured but with some flexibility. one big thing with my parents is that there’s not enough actual seminar time, but it might be different for different programs, and not many people have been able to help me out on this (i’ve gotten no replies yet :/)
and yes, basic schedule for their programs? what’s it like, generally, if you have any idea?
(also , this is something my parents are worried about, is the campus secure?)
