Summer Programs

Hey Guys
I am a freshman in high school and I’m wondering if any of you know of any summer programs I can still apply to. Most programs are limited to current sophmores and junior, and so I had trouble finding one. Additional info: I have an interest for comp sci, and I would really like anything that can build my college resume.
Thanks So Much.

Depends on where you live and what the maximum possible price of the program can be. Most summer program apps at this point are over, so you’ll have to wait until next year. If you want, however, you can take classes at a community college.

Stanford’s deadline is April 10, I believe.

While it might not be exactly what you’re looking for, CTY JHU and Cosmos are both summer camps where you take classes. I’m almost sure they offer some comp sci classes. CTY also has online courses, I don’t know about cosmos. I’ve done CTY’s summer program before and it was great, I’d highly recommend it.

@DogsAndMath23 Just a quick question about CTY online, if you take an AP or Honors course on it, can you get AP/Honors credits for school?

As for OP, I’m a freshman in high school and I’m probably taking courses at my local community college this summer. I’m not really knowledgable on summer programs so I can’t help you with that.

@andrewoz9‌ I would assume that CTY courses are accredited, but you’ll have to talk to your high school individually to see if they’ll give you credit. For AP’s I would think that taking the AP test should give you the applicable credits toward college even if your school doesn’t recognize it, though.

@ICanAndWill‌
what state do you reside in?

@DogsandMath23 You don’t really take “classes” with COSMOS, and anyways, the application deadline was over a month ago. And COSMOS actually has selection procedures–with CTY, if you’re above the (very low) par that they set, you can take classes there.

Thanks Topaz, I wasn’t aware of that. My experience with COSMOS was basically limited to seeing them around while I was at CTY, lol. I agree that it’s pretty easy to qualify for academic explorations/online classes, I thought it was harder to get into intensive studies but I didn’t pay much attention since the campuses weren’t an option for me, though I did qualify.

I really wanted to go to COSMOS

@ICanAndWill‌ you can join the Princeton review summer internships or the Princeton summer scholars

look into Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) or Center for Talent Development (CTD)
