Summer Programs

Which summer program for high school students do you think would be the best ? I mean which summer program do u think would be the most benifical ? Worth going to !
Thank you..

There are very few summer programs that are going to give you an admissions edge if that is what you are looking for. A summer program should be something that allows to you explore an interest or expand a passion. My eldest is a musican and did indepth music camps in the summer. Son #2 loved backpacking and went to camps that gave him the opportunity to do this. Youngest son loved French and music and pursued both of these areas in the summer. All three did things that were either not offered at all at their high school (back packing) or things that they wanted to do intensely for a few weeks. All three chose the activities that they loved.

So think about what you love to do or would like to learn more about and look for program that will help you do that. Then you will have found a really good program for YOU!

Just do something you really love. I know a girl who’s been doing summer programs since her freshman year at top schools - Stanford, Duke, etc. - and so far, it seems to have zero effect as some of those same schools have rejected her. To me, it seems like a waste of money and precious summertime. I’ve spent the last three summer at an incredible dance intensive and couldn’t be happier with my choice.

Presidential Classroom. It is in Washington DC and is the most well-respected program of its kind. I would highly recommend it.

I agree with these other people^.
What are you interested in? If you like math and such, there are many math &science summer camps out there, some difficult to get into and others easier. Do you like drama? Art? Law? Engineering? Even if you get accepted into a prestigious summer program for, lets say, biotech., there honestly is no point in going if you are not interested in that type of stuff.

Many many universities have their own programs, just go on their website and look around. Oh, and be careful because a lot of camps out there just want money, such as National Student Leadership Conference. So expensive and I heard it is just like a tour of Washington DC.
Personally, I trust camps operated by the university itself more than private ones. Its just me though. You should always ask sround for second opinions about camps.
