<p>I forgot to say...although I'm not planning on reading any novels, that is because I am writing one. I write on average 6-10 pages per night, and this happens about 4-5 days each week.</p>

<p>ustas06: yeah most LAC's have an assignment, at least that I have heard of. My friend is also going to Grinell and he has yet to hear about one, so don't sweat it.</p>
<p>It's really common for incoming freshmen to read a book. Last year most people going to private schools that I knew had to read one for a freshman orientation class (book discussion was part of it).</p>

<p>it's very common, but nothing to freak out about... just enjoy reading it! generally it will be used for freshman discussion groups, and most likely the author will come and speak, which is interesting.</p>
<p>Carleton - Persepolis, a graphic novel about growing up in Iran.</p>
