my high school gives out a summer reading list. however, i don't think it's mandatory to read them since the title reads "Summer Reading RECOMMENDATIONS" but most other people going to my high school are reading the books anyways would you read the books? also, i've been reading my own books for recreation so i don't think it's necessary. What do you think???

Were you ever specifically told that you had to read them?

But anyway, if I was you, I would use the list to look up books, to see if you might be interested, but take it with a grain of salt.

I would ask. Recommendations usually means non-mandatory, though.

thanks u guys.
i ended up reading 2 of them that i was intending on reading anyways before the list was given.

You should probably ask the kids that go to your school...not us...

could mean there was some non-specific required reading and the "recommendations" are just a sample of books that fulfill the requirements.
