Summer Reading..Ugh

AP English Literature:

Great Expectations - (Dialectical Journal)
Life of Pi - (Creative Project)
Catch 22 - (test First day of class)

AP U.S. Government:

Hardball - (Essay)

Utopia
Brave New World
Brave New World Revisited

BNW is pretty interesting, but BNWR is just an essay written by him a couple decades later, and he starts rambling near the end about stuff we don't really care about. :)

And then Utopia was interesting enough.

urcool- Catch 22 was pretty good!

demeter - I enjoyed both The Secret Life of Bees and Life of Pi to an extent. I liked Bees moreso than Pi, however.

Catch-22 was one of my favorite books we've had to read for summer reading. Next to Harry Potter, of course :p.

We have to read:
The Kite Runner
My Antonia
Native Son.

TackyCat- Native Son was a really good Book as well!!

I havent read any harry potter books, im just not into them!!

Of course you're not into them if you haven't read any. :P

mythology-edith hamilton

I wish I had to read the autobiography of Malcolm X...but I don't, I have to read a 550 page book called Possession, and Beowulf.

I have to read The Odyssey by the end of the summer. I have about 5 other books I need to read throughout the year, and can read them over the summer if I want.

I decided to be semi lazy my senior year so I just took honors english. We have to read 1984, and complete a packet of projects.

We have a list of 22 books for AP lit. We have to pick at least 3 and do a full analysis with character lists summaries, symbolism, diction and syntax examples and a lot more that i don't want to think about! I am reading Anna Karenina right now which is very good and i recommend it! I will also read life of pi.

I love 1984! i read it in like a day.

1984 was good... the best book we read all year in AP lit last year.

You like Anna Karenina, Britta? I couldn't get into it. Is it just one of those books that you have to keep reading after the first few chapters to get into?

For English: Ten Men Dead and The Last Exit to Brooklyn

Sophocles and I am Charlotte Simmons for AP Lit (yeah, I got to pick the second one)

I just finished Anna Karenina, I liked it!

I have to read all this non-fiction...the first two I got to choose, the last is mandatory for AP Lang.

~Savage Inequalities (about public schools. It was interesting-deals with a lot of controversial issues)
~Guns, Germs, and Steel (470 pgs...hope it's good!!!)
~An American Childhood

english lang:

the great gatsby (so far i kinda like it)
the scarlet letter
the allegory of the cave
the narrative life of fredrick douglass
the prince
ethan frome (hate it)
the awakening
walden (chapter on "economy")
the prince

For AP English we have to read Wuthering Heights and any Gregory Maguire book of our choice, but Wicked comes most recommended.
