summer residential photo programs, here or in europe

My daughter is a fairly advanced photographer and is thinking about a summer residential program. Does anyone have any familiarity with any? Thank!

My D went to the Maine Photographic Workshops between her junior and senior year in high school. Though I wouldn't classify her as 'advanced' -- more like 'intermediate' -- they have workshops for all levels -- some just hs students, other more specialized photographic workshops are open to hs students as well. Rockport, Maine is a beautiful place! http://www.theworkshops.com/ Hope this helps!

Thanks! I assume she liked it? You didn't specifically say. I have been to their web site and it looks lovely.

Parsons School of Design has a summer photography program in Paris for high school students. They also have a program at their NYC campus. I have heard excellent things about this program from several different people - it looks great. My daughter was very interested but can not fit it into her schedule for next summer. :( Here's a link:

That is really cool, too bad I never did anything like that. I'm really into Photography.

http://www.summeradvantage.com/london/index.asp

it's not specifically for photography, but they have a photography class. and it's in london. so it's great. i went. :)

Mommamia -- Yes, my D liked the program. She came back with a huge new portfolio of photos -- learned new techniques, etc.. She took the B&W HS Photographers course and wanted to do the color course as well but couldn't fit it into her schedule. As you can see from my 'handle,' she is primarily a classical singer but loves photography.

i really like color photography a lot, when i went to nyc the other month i took multiple roll's of film for a project, and i ended up with these two shots of my roommate and her boyfriend that looked great. i made two copies of each, and gave them to them.. they framed them and gave them to their parents for christmas. adam's mom said they looked like photos right out of an advertisement. :)

Are you in a band fendergirl?

Mommamia,
My daughter (currently a hs sophomore) is also interested in a summer photography program. Last year she studied digital photography with the Excel program (www.goputney.com). She had a great time but the photography program was more geared toward beginners. This year she is looking at:

no backhand, i'm not in a band :) no time :)

sopranosmom: i tried to send you an email/pm but i see you have the option turned off. anyway, i'd just like to ask a few questions about the maine photographic workshops. i'm seriously considering applying and i was just wondering about the program, lodging, equipment, etc. the website isn't very clear on those details and it'd be nice to talk to someone who has known the program first hand. if you have any time just drop me a pm/email. thanks!

Sorry Julius-I think you misread the post. I have no 1st hand info and was looking for advice from someone who did. I have spoken to the folks at the workshop and gotten a bit of info. Why dont you give them a call ?

Actually, I think you misread my post--I was directing it toward Sopranosmom whose daughter has attended.
