Summer school . . . again

Last year, there was summer school to stay on sequence becasue of a major change. This year, it's because the fall schedule shows course conflicts between courses required for the major and the two remaining gen eds. It's just frustrating because it means another summer of of watching d juggle coursework and two jobs (one full time, one part). At least this year the courses are online.

We frequently talk here about getting done in 4 years, and I have no doubt the institution would have stepped in, allowed some gen ed substitutions, etc. if push came to shove, but there would have been semesters with ridiculous workloads and terrible gen ed choices because of scheduling. It's better to do summer school and avoid that situation, but holy cow, it just gets old.

Ordinarylives, has she done online courses before? My D’s HATE them. What we have found helpful is to work AHEAD wherever possible. Glitches happen, networks go down, events come up, etc. Working ahead is a lifesaver.

D3 cannot do summer school because the classes she needs are just not offered in the summer. If she COULD do summer school, she’d probably graduate a year early.

Yes, she has. She’s says that while the educational experience is nowhere near as good as being in the classroom, it’s not a bad way to knock out a class.
