Summer Science Program 2016

@CaptainMalick Maybe MadAstro was talking about his/her scores and essays. Really there’s no way to know if anyone on CC is being genuine, but I try to believe people to some extent. SSP evaluates you based on everything, not just awards, anyways.

@CaptainMalick
Sorry, but the thing is, I already got DENIED from two of the summer research programs that I’vr apply at this point and I really think my application is bad. That’s why I said the prospects are grim in this SSP one too. Well, you might think that my ECs are terrific, but why would I get rejected then? I was trying to say my application is “holistically” bad, including the scores and essays and stuff. Sorry, didn’t mean to be boastful or try to belittle you or something like that.( And all the ECs I wrote are true things that I’ve did.)

@coffeeaddicted
all things I wrote are true.
Also, I got another rejection letter from another summer camp I’ve applied.
So, truly, I don’t have a good shot in SSP too, IMO.
Yes I was talking about my scores and all stuffs holistically…
The wording was deceptive enought to say that my ECs were terrible. didnt meant that…

@MadAstro Oh by genuine I didn’t mean to imply that you were lying about your ECs, I’m sure they’re real and all. I guess I worded that somewhat poorly, I was just wondering how in the world you could find those ECs bad. I do see you meant your application holistically though. Sorry about your rejections, although if there is a specific reason you are being denied, it can’t be because you’re ECs aren’t good enough. Most get into summer programs with far less. Even with mediocre scores, you seem like a strong applicant, but selective summer programs kind of seem like a crapshoot. Hope you have better luck this time! (April 10th???)

@CaptainMalick
Thanks for your kind words.
Hope I get into this program!

Well I know it’s just useless to talk about the “probable” admission decision date
But by the past threads here in collegeconfidential:
2013: Wednesday of second week April
2014: Wednesday of second week April
2015: Thursday of second week April

So it is probable that it might come out either Wednesday or Thursday of this week since this week is the second week of April.
Or it might be Friday, or in worse situations it might be NEXT WEEK AHHHHHH

But anyway this is my guess

It’s come out on April 10 for the past two years, so I assume it’ll come out this Sunday.

just wondering, which other summer programs did you guys apply to? :slight_smile:

But historically they’ve never made their decisions on weekends tho
I honestly don’t know. I’m just making my guess.
It might be April 10th this year too.

.

@lshaynal
I applied to RISE which is a summer research internship program in Boston University (got rejected)
And also I applied to Johns Hopkins summer research program (got rejected)
So i really hope this SSP comes out well

@usastudent101 lol same here.
Trying to be as patient as possible, but just can’t wait…

do you guys think that theyll have a quota per school or compare you to other applicants from the same school/area? because i know at least 4 other people from my school (super competitive & smart school) who are applying and some of them have really good stats and extracurriculars ahh im freaking out

@lshaynal I sincerely hope not. I don’t know who else from my school is applying, but I’m sure that there are other people, and everyone (or at least, all the people who would apply for SSP) from my school is absolutely crazy. Also, if they compare me to the girl from my school who went two years ago, I have no chance of getting in :confused: Thankfully, most of the kids in my grade are bio people, but there are several super super intelligent people who are more physical science-y.

I’m surprised there are multiple people from your schools running! I’m pretty sure I’m the only one from my school who has even heard of this program, and my school has literally thousands of people. Do your teachers tell you about programs?

I really hope results come out this week, because I’m sick of waiting

@coffeeaddicted
Yes me too I am SICK of waiting.
Our school consists of only 60 students per class of 20xx. Really small. And I’m the only one who’s applying

@MadAstro you already heard back from RISE? I applied there too, but I haven’t heard anything back… Does that mean that I was rejected too?

@coffeeaddicted nah, it’s the fact that everyone at my school is crazy driven & believes they must get into a good summer program to get into a good college.

@essyr2017
I’ll message you privately

@MadAstro Okay thanks
