at this point i feel bad asking for stats… @gluckonsat hopefully more accepted people come on this thread so not everyone’s bothering you!
@shanghai001 I’m from South Korea!
@essyr2017 No prob. I can just copy and paste the same message haha.
Does anyone know how many internationals got admitted? It’s weird that no one else is showing up…
I just got wait-listed… Anybody have alternative plans for the summer?
@boomdnt I’m applying to a bunch of different summer programs as backup, but a lot of the deadlines already passed and I don’t know about whether or not they’re open to international students (since I’m from the US). The ones whose deadline still haven’t passed are EFL (an economic program that isn’t really hard to get into and only a week long…), Rensselaer’s PREFACE (STEM program run by RPI), and Northeastern’s YSP (STEM program run by Northeastern University that probably isn’t open to international students since I’m pretty sure it says it mainly wants people from the Boston area).
@essyr2017 Thanks I think I might apply to EFL
Is there still a chance for wait listed internationals to get into ssp? Does anybody have the stats…
@boomdnt I think people on the waitlist have a chance until everyone who’s admitted confirms their acceptance, although I’m not completely sure about this.
As for EFL, there’re rolling admissions until early April, but the application’s pretty painless and doesn’t even require things like official transcripts, score reports, or teacher recommendations, and everything’s online at fte.org. Once you’re accepted, you have to confirm your attendance and pay the fee, but you can get a full refund until two months before your program start date, which should be well past when SSP finalizes who they’ve admitted.
@gluckonsat Ahh sorry to bother you too but could you also message me your stats as well? Congratulations on getting accepted! That’s amazing
@gluckonsat
Haha sorry to ask but can you send me too?
Just curious… If you want i can send you mine too… Even though my result is not even out yet and there is a little chance of getting in…
@gluckonsat ahh sorry but can you message me them too?
@hellounicorns @MadAstro @tonystarkofwinterfell Sent them in!
@gluckonsat Could you message it to me too
does anyone know on an average how many people get accepted from the waitlist
@gluckonsat sorry but can u message it to me too? Thanks :3
I’m so scared for US decisions to come out I want to get in really bad, and this wait is killing me. I go on the website like every day and read about how much fun it and it’s all just built up my anxiety. Does anyone have an idea of the soonest decisions could be out?
Last year and the year before last they were out April 10th so probably around then
I was rejected by SSP last week, and felt very sad. I’m looking for other summer programs. Has anyone heard of University of Michigan Math and Science Scholars? What is the admission rate about? Is it worth to spend about three weeks to attend this program? Are there any other programs recommended? (besides pure math programs like ROSS, SUMaC, USA-Canada, PROMYS, HSMC, etc)
By the way, about my application. I got 2350+ on the SAT, and top 5% GPA ranking at school, AMC top 1%, AIME, and a math modeling competition award, but I was still rejected. So I think scores are not that important. As long as you get about 2200, you are fine.
I think they are looking for students with good essays and science ECs, and I think they prefer ECs with more research experience. Pure math, physics, chemistry, biology competitions may be less favored. After all, SSP is more research-based. It’s not testing your problem solving skills. Essays may be the most important. It’d be better if you show your passion about something, be it math, physics, astronomy, biology, or chemistry, any STEM subject you love.
But this is just my opinion…may be helpful…
@gluckonsat Mind if I ask you as well?
@coffeeaddicted
Same.
The more I read about it, the more fun it seems!
@coffeeaddicted
@Runkeeper
I’m so nervous too. Is it too early to start a countdown XD
Ahh I’m super stressed about all my programs because the least selective one has a 15% acceptance rate and I’m going to have to take community college classes if I don’t get into any because it’ll be too late to get an internship and community college classes are so boring and mundane and it’ll be a step down from what I did last summer and AHHH.
I really want to get into SSP.
