Summer Science Program 2019

Do you guys have any tips for learning python?

@whales7 Going to biochem, not astro, but I know python relatively well - if you’re completely new to python, Codecademy is a nice place to start (gives good walkthroughs, but is a bit painstakingly slow-paced). After, there are probably python courses for more advanced programmers out there as well, or honestly you could just work on a few of your own projects and StackOverflow for technical difficulties; I find you end up learning a lot from searches even if they don’t lead you to the info you’re looking for.

Hi everyone, I’m attending SSP at UCSD this summer, and I received a link to the pre-program group chat yesterday, but it’s not working for me (leads to a blank page with the logo in the center, no other options). Anybody else have this difficulty, or if anyone else is already in the chat, can you message me?

You should try emailing and asking for the link again

Hey guys I just have 2 questions (I posted these before but I don’t want them to be lost. If anyone can answer these, link me to an answer, or tell me why you can’t answer these, I’ll appreciate it):
Have any sophmores made Biochem this year? If they wouldn’t mind, could they share their stats? Also does your chance of admission vary depending on the campus you apply to?
Also, it says on the website that after SSP, you can extend the research (and thereby claim it as your own) by keeping in touch with the mentors and working with them. Has anyone done this?
Thanks
