@Quantum- Only 1 in fact. Coin isn't Indian lol!

Haha yeah I'm not actually Indian, just an admirer of sorts =D I shall take that as a compliment, though.

Anyway, I think it's just that 400 people filled out the pre-application but they only expect 250 to send in apps. That's what I assumed, at least. I mean, it makes sense that a lot of people would give up (like I gave up on TASP ahah) halfway through right?

My friend also filled up the online thing but he won't apply to the SSP for real :p
Online app is free and effortless so everyone is like, Oh! Lets give this a try as well.

Edit: W00T! Spam no. 50!!!

coin: agreed

i also thought the email meant that 400 students submitted the online form and they expect a total of 250 to actually follow through and submit a real application.

Hey everyone, I have a question:

So I checked a few months ago on SSP's site, and the deadline said Feb. 20th.. And now it says March 20th. Does that mean even though I haven't handed in anything yet, it's OKAY as long as they receive everything my March 20th?

^There are two rounds of applications... february 20th was the early deadline, and the final deadline is march 20th! so don't worry, you're fine turning in everything by March 20th!

Does the % admitted go down in the second round as opposed to the first round?

misterwang- Oh dear God dude, that question's been answered!! Check past posts. For the 18hundreth time, March 20th is the last deadline while Feb 20 was the early deadline!

coin- Seriously 0_o you're not Indian? Aha, an admirer. I'm glad there are some people out there who admire Indian culture. In my high school, some people are racist towards us (Punjabi gangs are common here > gives wrong impression). It ruins other innocent Indians' image. Sad, I know.
coin I'm your new fan! (btw, I'm south indian also. I can read Sanskrit! :D)

with regards to what was posted on the last page (i forgot who posted it), it said that admissions was working on scoring second round applications. so that means that theyve already finished looking at early apps, and now theyre looking at the apps that got to them by the 7th (which ive established to be the middle deadline thats not listed), and so ultimately the remaining applications would be looked at after the 20th of march (according to what Mr. Bowdon said).

now, you just think about it logically anyways. if only about 135 people have submitted paper apps, and (ill give it a 3 or 4 day lapse since i dont when that was published) theres less than 2 weeks before everything has to get to them, then its inconceivable that all 400 people would submit apps. and so for that reason 250 seems very likely. in any case, id say that first round applicants are probably better off than third round applicants (those who submit after 3/7 and before 3/20), since they probably care more about getting in (unjustified but its what i think) and therell be more spots opening.

and i only submitted my app now almost 2 weeks ago, and im already starting to freak out even though i know i wont know for awhile -__-.

Sorry.... =[

^ Heh, no problem, I was just giving you a hard time :)
Stress can get you as quick as acne these days.

@Quantum- OMG! You're an NRI? I'm a north Indian btw. Lucknow, UP to be precise. I studied Sanskrit in middle school as well :D And Punjabis? I think the REAL Punjabis rock! One of my friends is a fulltu Punabi and he's really adorable :D Totally carefree genial, frank and humouress...

By NRI you mean non residential Indian? No, I'm an American citizen at California now, but I was born in India (born in a forest village actually). I'm from Tamil Nadu. I speak Tamil, but can't read or write it.
I can read Sanskrit, but can't speak or understand it.

haha the Holi digression on the last two pages is really awesome^^ It relieved my stress a lot after seeing 10 pages of discussions on deadlines and essays

@Quantum- What were you doing in a forest village lol?
@niravanatear- Hehe, the Indian magic! Btw you know where the word 'nirvana' comes from?

@Everyone- I sent Mr. Bowden a mail a few days ago from another email ID about the results. No reply :(

haha gary7 I was gonna comment that I prolly appear more Indian than all of you because of my Sanskrit name!

Quantum -- that's awesome that you can read Sanskrit! I wish I could, haha, all I can claim to is a few phrases in Hindi picked up from seeing random Bollywood movies, because I am lame like that.

gary -- aww, dang! Well, let us know if he responds!

So I'm taking a trip to California starting Monday for college visits, and I hope we have our decisions by then. If not, I mean, end of spring break at the very latest we'll have them ... right ... ? To think for some of us the decision is already made but we just don't know what it is!

or perhaps the decision is not made until we observe it! Schrodinger's cat anyone?

(sorry, it was just too easy, I couldn't resist)

I wrote about Schroedinger's Cat on my Question 1^^

Heh, i was in a forest because thats where my parents lived.
