I attended SSP at Ojai last year.
Now here's a piece of advice. Don't think of waitlisting as an extended rejection, but rather an opportunity. The admissions committee didn't reject you because they thought you had the appropriate credentials for the program.
I was waitlisted last year, but luckily, I got accepted. I also know two others who were waitlisted and later accepted. If you ask me, I would say to demonstrate interest. Show them that you love SSP and would definitely go if accepted. Also, tell them something that you might have forgotten to write on your application.

IMO, being accepted from the wait list involves:
1) Luck
2) Demonstrated Interest

If you do #2, you may very well be accepted. However, always be prepared for a denial.

Btw. Congrats to everyone who made it. Is this the first wave?

Also, if you have some questions, I'll try my best to address them.

Hey all! I'm a Round 2 applicant who thought I'd stop lurking and join in on the fun.

@Time's Arrow

I don't think the SSP people expect you to have any experience, but if you're interested Python is as good a place as any to start: A Byte of Python

omg. now ive become incredibly nervous about this all. zogmozgomz. why cant we all be accepeted... argh lol. only like 2 weeks ozmgozmog.

on the other hand, now we can all be bothered by the fact that now theres only at most like... 65 spots left for like 250-8(?)=242 people. making the acceptance rate for people after these guys that much lower! wahhhh. lololol.

tomjonesistheman - think you got deferred. if you got waitlisted itd tell you that there werent enough spots for you. youll just actually get a new decision at a later time.

So..getting deferred is better than getting waitlisted I presume? I wonder what the early decision acceptance rate was. It seems most of you got in!

Congrats to those of you who did, and good luck to us who got deferred..

Ah shoot, you guys are making me all nervous T_T. I'm a second round applicant. I've been lurking around this topic, but I figured I'll reveal myself xD. =/ . I'm really nervous because I got owned in the TASP selections, and I really have nothing that's amazingly awesome o.o I just hope my essays can kick ass enough to get deferred. Anyways, congrats to those who got in and sorry for those who didn't.

Just out of curiosity, is it mandatory for the teacher to sign the back of the envelope because my calculus teacher just handed me the sealed envelope with the letter/form inside.

Thanks a lot friends! Although, its embarrassing to see myself as the sole occupant of the 'rejected' tag, all your support really warms my heart! Especially that line about 'and remember we're thinking about you'
I sure hope I meet you all in a good US University or competitions if not SSP :)
Btw, anyone applied to ISSYP(Canada)?
