Yes, barem, but still, its best to give it all you got, right? After all, we're dealing with applicants of a completely advanced level.
Perhaps it may make a big difference. Maybe not. Better not to take chances, right? Wouldn't it be better to have BOTH smashing recommendations and the award?
Besides, SSP is associated with Caltech. Maybe my award could be worth a crown (hyperbole)...

now, i think im in an interesting position.

because i put as my notable achievement that i was selected for the award (since its the best thing ive got), but i had to put in it that i hadnt actually received it yet (but that my physics teacher told me that i would get it). so its very interesting. i do hope that it has an impact though. but who knows.

i just want to get in -__-

same.. :p

don't we all :)

bks85, even if we could inform SSP, how would we do it? Would they really take our word for it when we say "I got such and such award..."?

I just realized I've only emailed Mr. Bowdon two times, so I decided to ask him...for both of us.

Holy c*** unbelievable! He just said "ok, its noted" when I told him about the award! Wow, that was so simple...

When I updated about KVPY-
Gaurav,
Thank you for your email, and congratulations on your award.
Bottomline- He's a pretty moody guy!

haven't gotten any new emails yet

me neither=[ Now I'm really starting to worry..

i would sacrifice some of you to the ssp adcom to get in. puwahahahha.

hmm. hmm, i asked this once on the caltech forum but noone really answered. does the caltech signature award do anything for you in admissions?

How strict are they on the deadline, for instance if its postmarked the 20th, would they look at it, or do they not look at late applications at all?

I have a classmate who forgot to send theirs on time

@Derivate - on the website, it says

"Your application will be complete when all required parts have been received in our office (not postmarked)."

I think that's pretty clear. Mr. Bowden maybe lenient about when it is received on the 20th, but I doubt he will be about that. Especially since it's in BOLD on the website.

And who forgets to send in their application? I think your friend might need to get his/her priorities straightened out.

He might be in a good mood, and decide to allow it to be reviewed, but if it does happen, tell your friend that he/she was very lucky.

HOLY CRAP!

Three pages in < one day!

I'm proud :)

@ tricky - love the evilness ;)

I wonder if Mr. Bowdon knows about this thread? Twilight Zone theme

Actually that classmate is really smart, far smarter than me, but very lazy at times. If they had applied on time, they would definitely get in before I do, so in a weird way, I am somewhat relieved they don't accept late applications

QuantumArbiter, I just emailed him asking if he could also consider my "update."
No reply yet, but thanks for emailing him for both of us!

i sent him an update some time ago too.
gah i dont care anymore, all I want is an email saying I got accepted haha

Ah, I've been rejected. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway. Tom, have you hear anything yet?

By the way, second round emails seems to be coming out.

I'm rejected as well :(

I got into SSP!

I'm so relieved. I thought I screwed myself over by turning in my application after the early deadline.

Oh yeah, I got in to Socorro.
