definitely bringing my violin. Auditions for concertmistress of a competitive symphony is in august and I have to be prepared. I really don’t know how this would work out…maybe I’ll have to choose violin over ssp…

You guys will all just be fine. There were plenty of people who brought their musical instruments and found a good amount of time to practice. In fact, at Socorro, you can use the practice rooms of NMT’s music building. Don’t worry! After years of teaching students like yourself, they’ve put all these things into consideration. ;)

Any one want to create a mini Socorro ensemble? I’ve been playing piano for a while and it’d be nice to rock it and shred at the talent show as an Asian pianist -_-

Ojai people! We should have a band ensemble in our talent show! I can play clairnet even if I am not good at it.
I don’t agree with the saying “you have to pay for it so it won’t look nice”. it is still a selective program, listed in MIT’s website of recommended programs. plus a lot of alumini of SSP go on to go to top schools.

QFE.

I mean, it’s prob the 2nd most well-known summer science programs in the country, second to RSI. It’s extremely self-selective, and from the handbook, it can be seen that the proportion of alumni who go on to top-tier colleges is extremely high.

I’m going to Ojai, but I haven’t played a musical instrument for 2 years…I used to play the clarinet. But I quit orchestra cause it was boring…

I’m wondering if I should bring it there anyways just to practice and get better. And maybe get me back into clarinet playing so I can join orchestra next year. Any thoughts on this… ?

What would you say are the top math summer programs in the country are?

@ derivative.

I’m not sure about a lot, but I’ve been hearing that the Ross Program at Ohio State and PROMYS at Boston University are supposed to be good.

And their deadlines are only like May 30th or something, so you have time to apply.

I play the flute and am going to Socorro I’m open to making an ensemble.

I’ll also bringing a choir version of the William Tell Overture ;)

Nice, got anything with piano in it?

Should I be worried that I haven’t received my enrollment documents yet? It’s been 12 days since Richard Bowdon sent me an email that I have been accepted. Has anyone else who has applied for financial aid still not received anything like me?

I play a little guitar (since late January, only) but I’m addicted (and still learning!). I might bring it along =D

Wow guys…I don’t want to be the only one without an instrument…

Hi guys! I was accepted to Ojai off the waitlist this afternoon! Super excited!

congrats. hope you have a great time with all those ojai people :P.

Wow guys - third page?

wow, 4 ojai people are from the same school. thats amazing

do we have anything like that at socorro?

^ Not that I know of. We all seem pretty spread out.

Hey guys, I was accepted to Socorro off the waitlist this morning! I can’t believe it… I’m so grateful. I hope others get in as well!

congrats! I’m excited to goooo but also very scared. I have the physics knowledge of an 8th grader -_-.

what I hate the most about physics c is those darn labs…take like 3 hours…
but otherwise the class is fun
